Quite a few my parents and their friends are posting them back to no 10 as they are all against the propaganda ,the joys of retirement to do such things
How as it is a D2D with no replies envelope are they going to pay RM more money for the sake of argument.
Put them in an envelope addressed to No 10 Downing Street, London, SW1A 2AA - jobs a good un. Stamp preferable.
I can't believe that no one has posted about the real threat to working people's lives should we vote to leave the EU. Most of the employment laws in our favour have come because of our membership of the EU such as,

Maternity leave
Paternity leave
Tupe regulations where your terms and conditions are protected if another firm takes us over
The working time directive which stipulates a maximum 48 hr week
Equality laws
Health & Safety laws that protect us at work
Minimum paid annual leave
Additional rights for agency and temporary workers
Equal pay laws
Parental leave

All these we take for granted but when you look at the leading lights of the leave campaign they are all right wingers who would love to see us go give all the above laws up and good pay so we can compete with China, India, Pakistan, Brazil etc etc which we will have to do when we are on our own.

If we leave we will not have free access to the EU markets as we will have to pay a tariff on our goods which are free at the moment so the 200,000 firms employing some 3-4 million people exporting to the EU will be threatened. If you're worried about the free movement of people between member states Ue immigration then can you guarantee that that will go? Norway who are not in the EU have to agree to the free movement of people in order to trade with the other countries in the EU and they have to pay a tariff on their goods as well.

The leave brigade say that we were ok before we went in in 1972 maybe we were but those trade deals we had then have now gone to other countries and there are no guarantees that new deals can be negotiated in the eu or elsewhere and if we can't then forget about the nhs and the welfare state as we won't be able to afford them it could even lead to a financial meltdown where your pensions could be at risk.

I've studied this subject long and hard and there are no gaurantees if we leave the EU in fact it could be a complete disaster but if we stay in you know what you're getting and we can try and lmprove it as it is not perfect.
The EU is a dictatorship. Nothing more nothing less.Certain countries are still intent on world domination. They dont want us. They want our money.

The original post "claimed" H&S was a benefit of the EU, and I said it pre-dated the original EU joining date by at least a year.
That the EU has added to current H&S regs is irrelevant to the original point. The UK government set up the HSE, not the EEC as it was then.

No the original post did not state that the original post stated that laws regarding health and saftey have came from the EU aro which you said no your no is incorrect and to be honest most of them probably have, no one claimed that the hse was set up by the eu, and the health and saftey at work act is only one part of h+s legislation in this country and that in itself has been amended many times with additions from eu regulations

Its very clear - the H&S at Work Act 1974 was specifically mentioned by you. No one else was specified any act. H&S at work is not just covered by that one piece of legislation, there are others, and changes have been incorporated into that specific act that have come from the EU. Therefore, the claim, in my opinion, is still valid. Your view is different.

You can vote for MEPs. People call them unelected but that's only because nobody in this country bothers to vote in European elections. 65% of people voted against the Tories last year but we have a Tory government.

Simple fact is that national governments put business above everything else, 100%. Royal Mail was privatised because it made money for those with power, even though every worker in the country (and especially us) was made worse off. Things like workers', human and consumer rights, the environment, climate change, tackling monopolies/bad business practices etc - no government tackles those because they're expensive and protect ordinary people at the expense of business. The EU is cross-border so it doesn't pander to the same interests and actually governs for the people.

Also, the 'daily cost' that's always quoted doesn't include the actual cash we get back in benefits etc (let alone the economic benefits which could be tens of billions). If groups like UKIP have to intentionally misquote the figures to make a point then they've already lost the argument.

Conscience Clause Regarding Election Material.
I know I am being picky now but that is the conscience clause regarding election material.
I was hoping you were going to post the conscience clause regarding D2D.

I don't think you can take the one regarding election material and apply it to a D2D about a referendum.
going by your posts in that other thread about this d2d seems like you are just trying to be difficult.

It doesn't matter what form the communication comes by, leaflet, d2d first class etc if it's election material the conscience clause applies

now if you are saying that the referendum is not an "election" and as such the clause doesn't apply because of that reason, then ltb 143/11 clearly classes a referendum as an election
if this IS classed as election.....it begs the question... why aren't we being paid extra then, like we normally are?

I mentioned the H&S 1974 Act (notice, 1974) as proof that it pre-dates the UK joining the EEC in 1975. Prior to this date there were no H&S regs in place in the UK, and most safety (such as it was) was covered by the various Factories Acts, Mines etc Acts and the rest, some of which still exist.
I don't believe it was ever stated that the EU had no subsequent input or amended the H&S regs in any way.
All the "ah yeah, but no but yeah but no but you said but no..." stuff doesn't change that.
The EU can't be blamed for all ills, and it can't take credit for the original H&S Act either, which for the time, was a very innovative and far-sighted change in how safety was perceived in industrial work-places.
OK, ref? Clear now?

Because its been posted outside of the "Election/Referendum" embargo so is classed as a government leaflet, rather than a political one. Its also the reason why they have to be delivered in 3 days as I believe that there is embargo for such stuff so many weeks before any election.

So why are you doing it.

Please drop the ref bit. When it's in green I am being a ref, when its any other colour it's my opinion. I would appreciate you not try to use it as a way to silence my input into a discussion.

I now await a yeah but no but, and the "old line of...." posts yet again as they are as old the hills and as worn out as you claim mine are.

They have to be delivered before Thursday or its illegal.

Because its outside the period for political leaflets it can't be treated as one. Therefore it becomes D2D and we don't get paid.
