Council 'disappointed and angry' over EU referendum leaflet sent with their magazine - Subtitle - Stop Nesting D2Ds

Nottinghamshire County Council has distanced itself from a leaflet regarding the forthcoming EU Referendum, which has been put inside some copies of its County Life magazine and distributed to homes this week.

The leaflet is also being distributed by Royal Mail but the council are stressing that it has no connection with them and should not be included inside their magazine.

Councillor Alan Rhodes, leader of Nottinghamshire County Council, said: "We were extremely disappointed and angry to hear that than an unauthorised leaflet has been inserted into some copies of the County Council's County Life magazine, which is being distributed to homes in Nottinghamshire this week.

"We would like to reassure residents that the leaflet has no connection with the County Council, we have not authorised its inclusion and we do not endorse its contents.

"County Life is being distributed by Royal Mail, under a subcontract agreement with our supplier, the National Leaflet Company.

"After receiving complaints from the public, we contacted our suppliers and we are hopeful that the action taken by Royal Mail has meant that the problem has been restricted to a minimum. We have been assured that managers at the delivery offices have reminded postal staff that they must not place leaflets inside our publication.

"At the moment we have only received a handful of complaints from residents, although at this stage we cannot rule out the possibility that it has happened on a wider basis.

"We are taking this matter extremely seriously and will be writing to senior managers at Royal Mail to seek assurance that this will not happen again."

Guys in our office do it all the time, even one of the lino's didn't know you shouldn't when I pointed it out to him. Takes longer anyway I think.

Hopefully once our work place coaches are in place they will be able to demonstrate to all the nesters the correct way of doing D2D's

And by this time next week there will have been complaints from all over England about various Door To Doors nested inside Cameron's referendum propaganda leaflet.

I know a lot of Posties love to "Nest" their households, but it's something I've never done. We now see one of the reasons you shouldn't do it coming back to bite us in the arse. I expect they'll now be a Special Programme on RMTV about it!

My Relief often "Nests" the Households like a little tent, so when you attempt to pull them out of the Frame all the innards fall out. When "Nested" like a "V" I've often found other mail sitting in that "Nest" several days later it should have been delivered.

Throwing of Households is an Art Form in itself. I once watched a Postie throwing them off individually to each slot, and then repeating the process with another 4 Households!

That is how you are supposed to do it, you get x amount of time for the first one as you have an empty frame, the 2nd you get slightly longer as you now have something in the frame. I lay mine out, however many I have, small one at the front, getting bigger to the back and slot them in in one go, 2, 3 , 4, 5, 6 or whatever at a time. Never nested.

We have one in our office like this , does one then packs it away and unpacks another and so on , trouble is he does it at the speed of continental drift.

God knows how long it will take him tommorow with 4 D2D's and this special !!!!

Anyone company who send us open leaved items should expect this and anything else that happens to them. If they want a proper service, put them in a proper envelope.

Why exactly should they expect this? they are paying for it to be delivered seperatly so why should they expect a poorer service than they are paying for? its like saying anyone paying for special delivery should only expect a 2nd class service

seems to be more than a little biased reporting here, only wanting to speak to people unhappy? why not a balanced view and ask for people who are happy also? or is giving a fair and balanced report not the object?
