Because work is jobs.

If "work is jobs" Why do we have a recruitment ban at ours despite being woefully short staffed. We have plenty of work, but no jobs or upgrades to fulltime.

If you have a recruitment ban what is your union doing locally about it?

But I think the answer to your question is simply that they know they are going to decimate your indoor work and there will be many job losses.
Everyone is desperate to avoid compulsory redundancies so in the interim a lot of places are being left short staffed.

Apologies if this is a silly question (I only joined last year), but if this is a compulsory delivery of leaflets (like regular door-to-doors, voting cards etc), why are we not being paid per item (like voting cards at 4p etc)?

More physical strain will be put on postmen and women, and apparently (could be wrong), overtime won't even be paid to staff. They just have to be (absorbed into Mon-Weds round.

It's part of your workload(It's a D2D drop)Elections (poll cards ect) are covered by a separate agreement,yes you can get overtime if you go over while delivering them and anything else.
