Scanning 2D barcodes

Post by Chewster »

Couldn't get a single one of the 2D barcodes to scan today. I'm sure part of the problem was the codes smudging in the rain, but the PDAs are just terrible. I know for a fact a couple of my tracked items didn't go through because the PDA decided to freeze right when I was trying to press "delivered." These PDAs really really get on my tits most days, the new ones better be a hell of a lot better

Did it yesterday for the first time, there were so many of them it added about 40 mins to the duty. Most of them scanned ok but the PDA's are crap for the job. Mine has an almost unreadable screen a keypad that doesn't work. With D2Ds and election material it is going to be HARD WORK.

Gave up when it would not scan tried to manually input the number above the 2D code but to no avail just gave it to the customer as they were at the door because they could hear my frustration at this ill thought out system! Managers said it would take no longer I beg to differ as the code is twice as long with gaps hyphens and is very small in form whoever thought of this should be hung drawn and quartered!

Usually give them (2D Barcodes) two or three attempts... if no result I scan 1D Barcode (if there is one ?) ... and proceed as per Standard Operating Procedure.

Who told you to even try manually imputing the 2D code?

40 minutes? If you had 40 (which you didn't), how can it possibly take 1 whole minute to scan every packet? I know the pda's are complete shite, but if it's adding 40 minutes on you're doing something wrong.

SOP? Would that be a de-camp to the nearest RVP (boxing round any enemy) where you can do a head-count and request an air-evac?

You don't have to imput the numbers/digits/hyphens.

Scanning 2D barcodes

Tried scanning the 2D codes for the first time today.
100% failure with my PDA, had to get my mate to scan them with his PDA before we started a new loop
(that's for the ones that we know would go through the letterbox) Any we missed, I just gave up on.
My PDA does scan all other barcodes though, so it's obviously the PDA at fault.
PS, my mate had 62 items on his PDA when we finished
