Leighton doesn't have a choice in the matter. The regulator would levy a huge fine on the company if they wilfully delayed competitors mail. Essentially they arfe like any other customer,. but have an arrangement to collect & process the mail then give it to RM to deliver.

You would also get the sackfor wilfull delay.

I have some sympathy with you, but that's the reality. Also whilst I think going on strike is an option it will also play in the competitors hands and I wouldn't be surprised if TNT won more contracts and started delivering some of the mail themselves during the strike. This could well be the no-way back point for the industry and RM.

As most of you know now I don't work in the industry so don't have a vested interest, though I have many friends and former colleagues in RM and also previous friends and colleagues working for the competitors.

I'm sick to death of everyone bleating on about the competition.

So what if they take Royal Mail's work....

So what if they take more during the strike....

The simple bottom line is that if need be, people can follow the work and jump ship from Royal Mail to the competitor.

The competition would welcome us with open arms, as Royal Mail workers are seen as the elite.

And don't believe all the garbage Leighton spouts about the competition being paid less - a major competitor has just agreed a 4.5% pay rise, taking their basic to £340+

As my former boss once said to my WTLL session. If you don't like it you can leave. Took me 5 months to get the poor lambs back into a room together. Had to bring them through First Line Fix with free breakfast. I think a fight broke out at that session. That was my first day as a DO manager.

Anyway as for competitors paying more. I would be very surprised and intrigued to know your source.

I am not gauranteeing seeing orange posties out and about if you strike in June. If the strike carried on for an extended period of time I could see TNT/DHL having a crack. I know for certain that these companies have been mapping delivery routes with the latest software, which is a shed load better than Pegasus (though not for one moment saying it would be abed of roses). TNT have enough volume to justify having their own delivery network. DHL are also significantly close to having their people out on the streets within 12-18 months.

What I am saying is that during a strike the public perception of RM goes down and customers are more likely to give more contracts away. Most customers don't fully understand the E2E process and in some cases may not realise RM actually still delivers all their mail.

I know it sounds like b*ll*x and until you actually see it, it's hard to comprehend. Look what happened when they tried to deliver mail and your milk! TNT bought a circular distribution company, and are looking expanding this into regular deliveries.

I have to be careful as to what I say, but I have good authority that things are moving forwards.

Yorkie mate please keep it calm. Everyone is welcome to visit the site, yes even mangers, in fact it would be good to hear an honest point of view from one of them. Also I have researched F0zzie a few months ago and as far as I can tell he is being straight. He used to work for RM and a competitor and apparently does neither now.

I fully appreciate how frustrating and annoying all this propaganda were getting at the moment is but try not to take it out on F0zzie. I don't agree with a lot he says but he is entitled to his views.

I don't work in the industry anymore, but as said previously have good friends and colleagues on both sides of this experience. Some are senior executives, others middle management, and even some who are frontline posties like yourselves.

Everything I have said on this board is based on experience and first hand knowledge. I have done everything from delivering post to determioning future direction of RM, competitors and the postal industry in general. As TrueBlue knows from his research I am who I say I am.

Some things you say I don't like and disagree with, generally respond with constructive criticism or keep my views to myself. And so what if I was a manager in RM still. I saw the note you published on the website yesterday. I worked with almost all of those people. ONe of them showed considerable support on the day of the July bombings. As a person he is a true colleague/friend. I have also seen the other side of some of these people who can sometimes show selfishness and I didn't always agree with their approach. But then again 130,000 posties aren't all saints either. Some are in this for themselves, power trips, bullying etc... others have shown amazing skills with some getting recognised by the Queen. I even worked with a postie who had an MBE.

i personally find his comments are factual and we should welcome his knowledge,whereas it's easy to forget some of our comments are pure
