Hi, I see a lot of moans on here about overtime but was wondering how soon after you start as a new recruit you can ask for overtime and is there a set limit on how much you can do? Is it always available? Many thanks.

No limit on when you can ask, but till you sign the Opt out from the working time directive you can only work an average of 48 hours overtime per week (based on 17 weeks I think)

However, I strongly recommend getting your feet under the table and used to the work before you start taking extra bits. It's a steep learning curve for the mind and the body.
