As has been confirmed in the Courier, Internationals do not have to be done before 1pm.
Think about it, they aren't even guaranteed on any particular day, never mind time.

Can an International Special Fail?
Only Royal Mail SD items need delivered by 1pm that's why they are the only ones that have 1pm wrote on them. The internationals have been travelling for days before it gets to your office so what is the panick to deliver it by 1pm. I regularly deliver internationals after 1pm and never been called up on it.

Can an International Special Fail?
I've been told by manager they need to be scanned as RM get a kickback from it. There's no time frame for this.
This actual question was raised in the courier magazine a few years ago and the reply was ,there's no need to do them before 1pm

Once it's travelled around the world and ended up at your office , it is scanned as an incoming special, I believe this sets the timer to get it delivered by 1pm or the bosses bonus is reduced somewhat!

Hi International SD are not time sensitive best to treat them as Recorded items.
SD are to delivered by 1PM Mon -Fri and only on a Saturday if the have the saturday guarentee (SG) sticker on them.

Wrong!motherhubbard wrote:Once an item has been scanned as a Special and allocated to a duty by the rle then if it isn't done by 1pm it will show up as a failure on the system.
Up above us are people who are only interested in figures and they are only interested in the headline figures and not the stories behind them.
Imagine you are trying to win new business and you tell the prospective customer that although the headline figure is 95% some of those were international items, some were redeliveries and some were scanned at 12.59 but the customer was in the shower and didn't come down to sign until 13.02.
They aren't interested in that.
What they want is a headline figure that says SD - 99% efficient.
So if it is given to you as a SD it needs to be done by 1pm.

I never do them before 1pm and have never been questioned on it yet. I sign for them in the locker as usual then put them in the bag with any other packets. We keep the real 1pm specials separate so they can't be forgotten.

No it's not. It's scanned as an International, whether that be tracked or signed for or whatever.HarryPoorer wrote:Once it's travelled around the world and ended up at your office , it is scanned as an incoming special
Why? It's nothing like a Recorded (now known as Signed For). It's international for starters, and it's handed out with the Specials.nibbs wrote:Hi International SD are not time sensitive best to treat them as Recorded items..
Best to treat it as an International, or a Special if you like, without the time constraints.
Why some come with the specials and some just find their way into the normal packets, THAT is the question.
Not that it makes any difference to me.

Someone told me that it's some sort of glitch with how the system records the codes/numbers that gets them thrown in with the specials. Who knows though

Helen Williams, service
improvement manager, replies:
Thank you for raising your concerns about
ensuring we deliver all of our items to the
correct specification. With regard to the
USPS item you refer to, I can confirm that
we do not have to deliver these items, or
any other inbound international items, to a
specific time.
What is imperative is that we use a
PDA to scan these items at the delivery
point, and we don’t just post them through
the letterbox. This will ensure we are
subsequently paid for the delivery of the
items and provide a delivery status event
track for the item.

No mate.motherhubbard wrote:Once an item has been scanned as a Special and allocated to a duty by the rle then if it isn't done by 1pm it will show up as a failure on the system.
Then it would show as being actioned at 12.59 since the time is taken on the scan not on completion.motherhubbard wrote:some were scanned at 12.59 but the customer was in the shower and didn't come down to sign until 13.02.
Should probably check your information.
