Ask DOM for paperwork showing the training of doing the collection and were it was communicated to OPG's what is ok and what is not.
No paperwork no conduct or warning, he has probably been asked by his boss was the OPG trained and said yes.
Not everyone knows there is a 4hr window as the replies on here show.

I was called in to the office once as all the boxes on the round (rural) failed 3 days in a row, luckily one of the days wasent me, was the float covering. turned out it was a problem with the software on the pda. so it quite simply could be a fault in the tools provided. and believe it or not this happens more than you think.

But managers always jump to the conclusion that the postie is at fault.si240882 wrote:I was called in to the office once as all the boxes on the round (rural) failed 3 days in a row, luckily one of the days wasent me, was the float covering. turned out it was a problem with the software on the pda. so it quite simply could be a fault in the tools provided. and believe it or not this happens more than you think.

We were told that if you failed to scan within the 4 hour window after the initial box collection scan (in depot) you then had to input the route number again to generate another 4 hour window.

Poor managers will employ the conduct code for scare tactics. This isn't how Royal Mail and the CWU approach operational failings.
The correct approach should be Remidial not Punative.
An objective look at any factors that led to the failed Collection and any safeguards or retraining for staff initiated.
In short;
Fix what went wrong and save any nooses for towing Vauxhall Combos.

Pretty sure it doesn't work that way.BeamishStout wrote:We were told that if you failed to scan within the 4 hour window after the initial box collection scan (in depot) you then had to input the route number again to generate another 4 hour window.
The scheduled time is the same, and therefore so is the four hour window.
If anybody seriously cannot scan within a four hour window, then the box is clearly incorrectly scheduled, and the time needs to be moved to a later slot.

On my round (rural), my first box is a 10am, but im there at 9:30 as its early on in the round, i do it on the way back to the depot as i cant wait around for half hr (what duty can), this is between 13:30 and 15:30 depending on the day. this is after the 4 hr window, and like you said management were approached 3 years ago to get the plate time changed, but apparently this was an impossibility.

The manager is either lazy, or doesn't know how to do it.
ALL boxes attached to deliveries can be done from 9:00 am Mon-Fri, and from 7:00 am Sat.
All it requires is giving the public 2 weeks notice of the change and a new timeplate.

Thats what i thought, and when questioned it was later confirmed by the collections manager from the mail centre. There must be more to it.UnhappyGremlin wrote:No it isn't.si240882 wrote:UnhappyGremlin wrote:Pretty sure it doesn't work that way.BeamishStout wrote:We were told that if you failed to scan within the 4 hour window after the initial box collection scan (in depot) you then had to input the route number again to generate another 4 hour window.
