Amazon is to open a new depot in Dundee providing deliveries seven days a week, The Courier can reveal.
It is expected the Amazon Logistics centre will open later in the spring.
The centre will hire independent delivery companies to distribute packages around the Dundee area, including on Sundays.
Several new jobs are likely to be created, including a delivery station manager and an operations manager.
Jamie Stephenson, UK Director for Amazon Logistics, said: “Amazon Logistics adds capacity and flexibility to Amazon’s delivery network, enabling us to meet the delivery needs of customers.”
The company is opening a number of new logistics centres around the country.
Amazon Logistics was launched in 2012 and uses couriers rather than the Royal Mail to deliver parcels.
Earlier this year Amazon announced plans to employ 2,500 new permanent staff in the UK this year.
The increase will bring its total UK workforce to 14,000.
