Pay rise this year?
Due to low inflation and share holders wanting big fat profits expect little or nothing. I would imagine if anything it would be around the 1% or under!
Union what Union? Do we have a union?

Pay rise this year?
I'd need a new duty then 'cos mine is a 39 hour duty. I'm not doing a 39 hour duty in 35 hours.

Pay rise this year?
The Union has a policy forum in London on 22nd and 23rd of March ! The PEC have put forward recommendations on pay , pensions , Resourcing , Extending the Legal Guarantees, MTSF , Royal Mail's strategy and the clocking in and out system called production control.
Divisions and Branch's of the CWU had until midnight last night to submit amendments or reject it change the PEC decision.
In my Division we have put in 10 amendments which we hope become policy of the CWU.
Now on pay for me it cannot be linked to one wave trails / pilots or agreement end off !
On Royal Mail's strategy we have to oppose it by all means including strike action. We have to alert the public that Royal Mail first Busines plan post priviatisation is to artificially delay the mail to have later deliveries ! It is designed to turn the job into a mainly part time job with new upgrades of machines !
On resourcing then we have to withdraw from all revision and withdraw from any current trails or pilots until Royal Mail fill the vacancies , upgrade part timers who are working above their hours , and stop the influx of casuals and agency staff in Mail centres and RDCs ! In one site last week an RDC used the equivalent of 175 full time jobs in agency staff !
We have to finally get a 35 hours gross working week by no later 2019 /20 with sizeable reductions each year to safeguard jobs ! Someone said they work 39 hours per week you don't you get paid 39 hours per week but you have paid meal reliefs so you work around 35 hours and 40 mins per week we have to get down to around 31 hours working with paid meal reliefs taking us up to 35 hours gross working week. This is without any reduction in pay and will help safeguard jobs . Part timers would get a pay rise through the increase in the hourly rate.
Lastly Royal Mail have indicated that legally they have to announce what they will do to the defined benefit scheme in 2018 in June this year. This is the scheme all employees who were in the job before 2008 are in ! Royal Mail have indicated they will close the scheme due to the accural rate expected to being around 40% to be funded ! This is a massive attack on pensions so we must resist by all means possible !
A lot is happening and tensions could not be higher !
I know the members I represent have always been up for a fight ! Remember one thing is certain if you don't fight for your terms and conditions then your get the terms which Royal Mail want you to have !
The policy forum recommendations on here but obviously not sexy enough to have any comments on them !
I suggest when the amendments come out you read them as this policy forum will define policy which will need to be communicated to all members !

Pay rise this year?
Agree 100% . There's not much I'd like linked to a pay deal. I'm sick of strings attached, all I want is better working conditions, not worse, and for my pay to beat inflation.dingo wrote: Now on pay for me it cannot be linked to one wave trails / pilots or agreement end off !
Do you mean that literally, or just generally part timers when some in that office have been working regularly over their hours. I'm fighting the fight by not working overtime, does that mean a part timer who has been there years less than me but who works overtime should get a full time contract before me? How does the union stand on this?dingo wrote: upgrade part timers who are working above their hours

DINGO
I don't know what office you represent, but any chance of representing my office?
In fact you should be in charge of CWU

I don't care what we agree with RM, they won't stick to it, they never do.
