Employee Survey 2016
DOMs are under pressure to get as many surveys completed in their office. So those on Annual leave or even long-term sick at home were being sent one to fill in!! Its something to do with the engagement score, which if they beat last years % of forms filled in - well, at least thats a positive! And thats why they don't like you not doing it OR taking it home, regardless of what you put down....
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Engagement is what the business lack's it's top down authoritarian structure and you know they like that. For that is their goal each and everyone should compile without question to obedience and lecture for the goodwill of the company!postslippete wrote:DOMs are under pressure to get as many surveys completed in their office. Did ours today, quite a bit lighter this year to years gone by. Most people just went down the middle. To me it looked even more like an exercise to try and prove to shareholders how well RM are managing the workforce, rather than showing what a s**t situation a lot of D.O are in. I think there is even less for focus groups etc to respond to.
As usual a load of crap and a waste of time, paper and effort!

If the employee survey ever changed anything, Rpyal Mail would ban it, as Ken Livingstone sort of said.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Was the email sent to yourself or is this a copy of what all RM managers/DOMs should have received in the leadup to the 2016 campaign?POSTMAN wrote:Confirmation from justsayit that the email I posted still stands...justsayit wrote:Thank you for your email and question. I got one when I asked, the managers know this but ignore it, just don't fill it in.BeamishStout wrote:Was the email sent to yourself or is this a copy of what all RM managers/DOMs should have received in the leadup to the 2016 campaign?POSTMAN wrote:Confirmation from justsayit that the email I posted still stands...justsayit wrote:Thank you for your email and question. Yes well said my friend!! It's farsicle to say the least,is this meaningless paper exercise really top of the priority list?.they haven't addressed issues I raised several years ago in the survey!! You said... We listened...mmmm I think notIloveMYredTROLLEY! wrote:Funny how they make time for Work Time Learning and Listening around this time of year to try and get us to fill in a worthless survey, yet you are extremely lucky to get more than a handful over the rest of the year giving any proper training, instead WTLL is skipped to reduce overtime budgets and increase the odds of lapsing being done.

The original email was sent to one of our members on here (can't rem who) managers would not get a copy of either.

We had our WTL this week,we were already behind because the second arrival of mail was late.15 mins in and the Manager pulls out the have your say forms ,he says remember give good results so we don't get anyone coming investigate problems, also we had to fill them in now .I said your giving us 15 mins to fill it out, no one is going to fill it out right just tick the boxes without time to consider their answers. He said you have 30mins, i said no 15 you spent 15 minutes talking rubbish, shrugged his shoulders and left the room.

I also went down the middle ticking "neither", or ticking "don't know" when that option was available. Didn't know that we were paid overtime to do it? I thought considering answers properly would result in 20 or 30 mins going down the tubes, and I would meet "resistance" if I tried to claim this as overtime. I also can't see what good it would do. They would get the results in. It would say people are unhappy. Then they would look at the profit figures and try and work out how they can squeeze more out of the workers. And then put out some management guff about positive thinking to address the demoralisation issue. Its for our own good obviously otherwise competitors will take all the business and we would all be out of work.

Cannot, what with numbered forms + simple detective work, be guaranteed anonymity. Not by a long chalk. For surveys of this nature to have any worth or validity at all they need to be 100% anonymous. If they aren't, then its all just PR and ticking boxes and Investors in People.
I wrote as much on last years survey and returned it.
I've just binned this years.

Only know about the Employee Survey because of this forum, no WTLL briefing about it (or rather no actual WTLL for past two months -
not that I'm majorly concerned about that) and not had any info about when we're going to see our Surveys to fill in......
Just slightly off topic - how often is WTLL supposed to take place and how long is it supposed to last? Assuming this is carried out in 'paid working time' there must
be a significant number of locations where WTLL is neglected/forgotten and the time (presumably built into working time) is used for 'normal' work - therefore the workers
in those locations are being 'done over'?

Was asked to do the survey today, said I would take it home and send it in the prepaid envelope. Was given some excuse about counting the replies so wasn't allowed to take it away with me.
