I've been training the gym in the mornings, so far it is working very well. I don't feel too tired, and I'm taking porridge and protein with me on my rounds, so lack of food is not an issue. I've actually put on weight in the last 3 weeks.

My office is nothing like what I have read on here. Everyone is very friendly, the managers are kind and considerate. I've not stayed past 2:30 yet, usually actually finish at about 1. I guess being young and fit helps a lot, as I walk pretty fast on my round. I figured out after the first day about bagging up your mail in the office, so when you're on your round you just pull out the bag, tie up the trolley and go deliver a few streets at a time. I've got my round perfected and am doing it faster than the guy who's been on it for the last several years!

My advice to noobies: don't read this forum! It will scare you off. Remember that people only come here to complain. I haven't experienced any of the issues I have read here, and if I do I will be stubborn about it with the managers.

Good luck to other noobies, it won't be as bad as you think, and you may end up loving it like I am so far. Bring on the summer!
Just wait till Christmas!!

I don't train, and I'm not into body building etc. However, I am rather portly, and struggle to keep my weight down - mainly because even though my previous job was quite physical, it was mainly arms and back strength, and I spent a lot of time sitting while driving.

I realise my lack of fitness is going to be a factor in performance, but I'm hoping the amount of walking is going to be good for me, and I'd expect it to build up leg muscle and reduce belly fat - or am I completely wrong?!

When I have started I lost 15 kg within three months, one of which was christmas, two weeks of which was 7kg loss. From sizeable belly to a stomach that pretty much caves in :D

I train at the gym about 5 days a week and was beginning to get too tired after my delivery to continue. I am full time and start at 6.42, so I now hit the gym at 6am Monday to Friday, quick half hour intense sessions and it is working very well....full of energy when I get to work and I can relax when I get home!
