Prices keep on rising but the postal service is getting worse

When the latest price increase comes into force in a little over a month’s time that will have risen to 64p with a second class stamp costing 55p.

The biggest hikes have come in recent years as a result of the decision taken in 2012 to scrap price controls.

As of March 29 this year the price of first and second-class stamps will have risen by 39 per cent and 53 per cent respectively since April 2011.

For people on a tight budget this all adds up. Send just one first-class letter every week and it will cost more than £30 over a year.

When the basic state pension is £115.95 a week that is a significant amount.

And while they may have been forgotten by the politicians a lot of people are still heavily reliant on the postal service and send far more than 52 letters a year.

Indeed there are still plenty of us who send at least that many Christmas cards.

Yet despite rocketing costs the postal service is not a patch on what it was 10, 20 or 30 years ago.

For example you cannot guarantee that a letter sent first class will arrive the next day.

You have to go to the post office and opt for special delivery that costs at least 10 times as much.

Of course the world has moved on with email playing an ever greater role in daily life.

For many people without a computer or the technical know how to use one though this is not an option.

They need an affordable and reliable postal service.

Because we are all worn out by relentles packets and mail, forcing us to work longer 6 hr deliveries, 8 hrs work expected for 6 hrs pay, O/T is a worse word than fuc k, morons at the top thinking everything is all ok as they surround themselves with yes men !, well arseholes not is all well, 7 people short in our office, 2 more leaving next week, no replacements, but we are all expected to carry the excess, no fuc king way we have had enough, managers off with stress ???, their jobs havent changed, still have their days off, very rarely help in the office, go home on time regardless off whats going on, and still manage to squeze their 5 and a half hour tea break in between signing in and out, we, rarely have breaks, stress, try doing our fu king jobs for a week, how much longer is RM gonna carry on like this, ? 3 years max i reckon ?.

We have been sold off, the people should have made a fuss, they should have objected to their MP's and tried to stop it. Prices up, service down was only ever going to be the outcome.
