POSTAL workers “ain’t gonna accept,” the Trade Union Bill, Communication Workers Union (CWU) general secretary Dave Ward told an open-air workplace meeting yesterday.

Union reps joined junior doctors fresh from their strike as part of a day of defiance against Tory government attempts to bring in pernicious new anti-strike laws.

The CWU chartered an open-top bus to take the union’s message direct to Whitehall and London’s sorting offices and last night projected a defiant message onto Big Ben, hitting out at the Bill from across the Thames.

At Mount Pleasant, Britain’s largest sorting office, Mr Ward said: “It’s never been more important for trade unionists in the UK to come together and seriously oppose the government’s plans.

“It’s not just about restricting trade unions, it’s about restricting your voices as workers.”

“This is about shifting the balance of forces even more in favour of the employer and the bosses you’re up against.

“We ain’t gonna accept this law, whether it comes in or not.”

The bus then cruised off to Parliament Square, where Mr Ward offered encouragement to a demonstration in support of the junior doctors’ dispute with the government.

“We say it’s time people understood that Cameron represents the millionaires and that the trade unions represent the millions,” he blasted from the top of the bus.

Across Britain, postal workers tweeted photographs of themselves with the hashtag #CWUandProud. Reps also addressed a public meeting in the marginal election battleground of Nuneaton.

The union is currently campaigning to save the daily postal delivery and the universal service obligation, which means every address is entitled to receive letters at the same stamp price.

Mr Ward said: “This Bill is more far-reaching in its impact on workers’ rights, trade unions and our ability to defend workers, their jobs, their terms and conditions than anything Thatcher ever brought in.”

For the life of me, I will never ever understand a member of any union that vote tory. They hate us with every fibre of their existence. Talk about turkeys voting for christmas.
