it can't & won't because too many of the cwu's employers (us) are too willing to bend over backwards and grab all we can regardless of the consequences,
add the influx of new (X 1) 20-30hr staff to replace the (X 2) 39hr staff who either want more hours to live or too scared to say no in fear.

i always assumed we were the union, but too many too greedy & too many not given enough to live on.
i would welcome an overtime ban or if that wording is against an agreement only rm are allowed to break then those in cwu towers should publicly announce that they recommend its members should work their contacted hours only

As my office Rep, I have pleaded with people for the last 2 years to stop coming in early, to do the job properly, to take their paid breaks... It is the membership that are destroying their own jobs.

So royal mail must be going to spend a fortune on all this technology, no set deliveries because the machine will decide on them for day depending on mail!!!! They've not been able to get the PDAs to work properly or stay charged for more than an hour so good luck with that. Clocking in and out and only paid for what you work, great an incentive to go as slow as possible and get paid for tossing it off like a fair few already do.

The difference will be stark ! 1 there will not be Any work for them to do and two they will only be paid for the hours which they scan into the program and the hours which they have against their names.

Thanks for stating theobvious What about keeping shareholders in the picture , us included, about what's going on. How can keeping people at Pompey in the dark about timescales, ERVs etc be business sensitive.

No it is computer system for all functions it records hours , it records traffic and gives a resourcing plan.
So if you work in International , a Mail centre , RDC , VOC , MDEC , a collection hub or a delivery offices you whole duty from start to finish will monitor your work times on each task as well as your meal relief , your finish and your start time.

Interesting. So will this system have the capability to dock pay for late starters? And if so, when we are late back due to excessive workload can we expect automatic payment of overtime without any argument?

Very good National Briefing , I think many were shocked at all the Royal Mail presentations on Pensions , national strategy and production control.

The last one especially when it showed you that they want to trial clock in and out of work , clocking out of every workload tasks and that you could be paid for the hours you actually work. They showed a slide with finger recognition , swipe cards , Scanners like RFID where your name badge is linked to the scanners and automatically records your time on each task.All of this information will enable resourcing in the future and and there will not be set walks as the machine linked to walk optimisation will generate the routes needed on the day !
