PEC have been summoned to TUC at 5pm tonight. Support them they will come under intense pressure to agree the deal they amended to smithereens only last Tuesday.

Just my opinion but I think they were instructed by their political masters to make the deal and f^*k the CWU members.

If the managers union has accepted the pay deal offered them, why are they not balloting their members?

We all need a bit of patience and discipline it seems to me.

The PEC might sell us out, that's a possibility. But there are some on the PEC who want to fight. Whoever votes to reccommned a crap deal won't be in the job beyond the next elections, and they must know that. After all the strikes and money lost, and the demands that Royal Mail are making, members would go ape.

But if they are to reject the deal, they will have to be in a position of 'moral high ground' as far as possible with the public, and the media. So they have to make every effort to reach agreement.

When the 'negotiations' end, and we are called out for more action, it will be all or nothing for us and for Leighton and Crozier. Make or break time.

we had a meeting with the SOM today who has the proposed agreement that Dave has signed!!
he reckons its s**t and RM are aware we will reject it so they are planning for more strikes and are going ahead with executive action putting in revisions.
he also said that as RM are already in the s**t it will not make any difference a few million more items and it actually gives them a bit of a window to make changes.
he also said that they really do not care if it causes problems they will sort themselves out over time.
its clear they want an all out and thats the way to break us in their opinion

I've just texted a mate of mine who is a ex RMT Branch Chairman , he agrees it's got political footprints all over it and I'm convinced Barbour, Ward & Hayes were leant on from a great height by Hutton & Brown, hence the reports of Ward looking if he'd lost his wallet.
It annoys me because somehow :lfo & :cfo have wriggled out of this to play the McGregor/Thatcher game with the NUM on their terms . That's what put a lot of unions off from striking in that era from bitter memory!.
The word is that Brown did not necessarily bottle a early election, it was that Murdoch wanted Brown to slug it out with Cameron for another 18 months or at least give Cameron a sporting chance. The only time Cameron has had any popularity was due to own goals with New Labour with the likes of Kelly & Hewitt.The Tories are too divided over Europe & want a return to Baroness Barmy style policies .
Brown has 1 To neutralize the Tories by being like them or at least centre -right/neo-liberal 2 He certainly won't want a winter of discontent with Public Sector Unions
He'll hope the Tories will implode themselves on a run into the next election .

We need to get other Unions on board to withdraw their political levy, by starving the Labour party of funds, it might start start to focus a few minds as to who they are representing.
When I gave up my membership a couple of years ago, I was inundated with correspondence to rejoin. In fact it came across as they were desperate for money.

First i heard of that!!that is not good at all !! , now they will be trying to push all us permanent full-time staff out the door quicker if they have new delivery offices ..so are these offices going to be having walk frames in the order of all the walks and rurals we have? thats a lot of work to do that!!suppose they will use all the 4 days strike money that we lost!

There's mail handling and mail handling - these places would only be as good as the support they received and the numbers of staff they would need would undoubtedly mean a lowering of standards and like Castro they'd be raiding the loony bins. If Romec are involved then the CWU should know - in any case I would call their bluff.

this was threatened about six months ago by the infamous Boggie40 on Hellfail , from my experience of outstations ; it'll be loads of alpha sorting and plenty of mistakes for uniform to sort out .
