Last minute shift offers

It might be the way things are, but I find getting a text from ReedGlobal at 14:00 telling me that there is a shift available at 14:30 pretty annoying, especially as the work has dried up at this quieter period. When I rang back the number, the guy on the phone hadn't even received this information!
I know the score with this type of work, and it was my choice, but maybe time to look for something more steady instead of being on tenterhooks all the time. Trouble is now I have just moved onto the higher rate I feel I should work whenever I can. Surely you could get a bit more notice?

consider yourself lucky to get anything i had a total of 2 shifts for the whole of january
