Reversed in to parked car today in my van!

Post by westhamdan1980 »

Cut across some muddy grass, got back in the van and whilst reversing the mud on my shoe caused my foot to slip off the brake on to the accelerator and reverse in to the car, caused a bad scratch to the car but nothing worse. Will I get punished?! Am worried as only been with the company since October and really enjoy my job, anyone else been in this situation?

I assume you reported it? If so, nothing to worry about. You might get an hour long slow maneuvers course or something if they can be bothered but certainly don't lose any sleep over it.

also I take it you have to report the accident to your own car/van/bike insurance if you own one.

Correct as it forms part of your driving history as the insurance companies assess your overall driving in their risk assessment of covering you.

Funnily enough no claims bonus are not transferable between bikes and cars yet you have to report accidents in either to all motorised insurance company. :hmmmm
