totally wrong, they must oppose these larger deliveries & 6 pm finish times on h&s grounds for both, there are far too many h&s ramifications for both to go into on here,but you must realise this is 2016 not 1965, anything can be stopped on h&s grounds now.
The musculoskeletal disorders which would come along with 6hour plus deliveries & saftey issues with delivering in the dark .......
Don't they have data from other postal operators (Norway etc) that show a decrease in musculoskeletal disorders with longer deliveries - where the job is done properly?
We used to deliver in the dark at 7am. I don't remember anyone refusing to go out on H&S grounds.
Anyway I think the 6 hour delivery is a bit of a red herring. A part time workforce is the goal, not a full time workforce of super athletes.

no,it showed a decrease in the levels of sick but if royalmail went from 66000 walks to 44000 then 22000 less posties would be needed so that would mean 22000 less chances of sick days, it doesnt take much working out that the sick would go down with 22000 less people.
The people that were left over would suffer bigtime. And you say where the job is done properly, what does that mean & when do you see royalmail pushing the job to be done properly? & when do think that will change?

I'd be gone like a shot, I couldn't do a longer delivery and I've no intention of working in the dark. In the peak of the winter it's dark at half 3, I also don't want to give up any more of my Saturday than I do now. If they offered VR I think they would be trampled in the rush
The last few posts may have hit the nail on the head. If you don't like the sounds of this and it's not for you, why not start planning an exit strategy? Perhaps get to Night School (whilst your not actually working at that time) and get the qualifications for your next job?
On the up side we've been worrying about some things happening for years....and they've never happened

There's plenty of people in our office who applied for a job at Royal Mail because of the hours - mostly because of early finishes compared to a 9-5 job.
As said in previous post, none of these plans appear to have been put in stone.
