I use the trolley on mine, and have been instructed by my DOM, that they are to come downstairs and sign for their mail at the delivery point. under NO circumstances am I to leave my trolley unattended. the integrity of the mail is PARAMOUNT. as such, when I tell them this over the intercom system they have no problem coming down to sign for it. policy or no f*****g policy, the DOMS word is final.

YOU work for the postal service, not the customer.

The customer should NEVER have to leave their own home for you to complete your delivery. This is your job, to deliver!

If something doesn't need to be signed, YOU DELIVER IT either through a letter box or in the central delivery point, where the customer will pick it up at their own convenience, not at your personal convenience.

If it DOES need to be signed for, YOU DELIVER IT to their front door to be signed, ring the buzzer to check if they're home first if need be, but you deliver it to the front door, you don't in-convenience the customer by forcing them to come out of their home to meet you half way..

The customer should play no role in the delivery process apart from the signing of a package at their front door.
Glad I don't work with you jobs worth prick

You're the postman.

The walk is not mapped out by pegasus to go into blocks delivering espescailly when the boxes are down stairs, if the boxes are cut out on their doors then that's different, I get this everyday, excuses - I'm feeding the baby - just got out of the shower - my flat mate has gone off with the door key - I have a pan on. If you do it once then they want it all the time... if DOM and rep say's you have to do it then you need a row taking off watch their boat races then!

"blah blah blah blah blah, cry cry cry cry cry, moan moan moan moan moan, but but but but but"

Confirmed today at Victoria head office.

"If you have an item that needs to be signed for this will be delivered to the door to obtain the signature rather than left at the central point."

Point of delivery is letterbox.
Letters and small parcels go inside them.
Large parcels and signed for letters or parcels - kindly ask recipient to come down for them.
If they dont want to unfortunately you then have to deliver them to their door.

If you go over your time - docket.

Simple really...

Whatever you do dont do this....

You live in an apartment don't you?
LOL. Still not going upstairs. :nana :nana :nana :nana :nana :nana :nana
well then you should get a new job as you're getting paid for not doing yours
Sorry it say's in your contract "AS DIRECTED BY A MANAGER" and my manager say's NO GOING UP STAIRS because the letter boxes are just inside the main door to the block of flats and that is the delivery point, not the front door. If the occupant is disabled or heavily pregnant then i don't mind making an exception but if you get an answer like {can you just pop up mate i've just got out the shower} no mate get dressed or get a card.
Again, you are incorrect and referring to standard post that doesn't need to be signed for.

The policy is to take all sign-for post to the door and never force a customer out of their home.

You're breaking company policy which is classed as gross misconduct. I suggest you read your contract again before you see yourself out of a job.

I'll just do what the manager say's then it's on him.

From what people are quoting from the regs, it sounds like you deliver them to the communal point and only go up with signed for items. Am I interpreting this correctly?
That's how I'm reading it.
If you need a signature, go to the door. Everything else can be left at the communal point.
Obviously factoring in some other influences such as is it a high risk area? does the building have secure access or open to all?

The flats we deliver to have no house numbers and are set out differently in different blocks. No way am I walking around blocks of flats when the letterboxes are downstairs. I ring the buzzer and they come down whether it's a signed for or normal packet, they don't come down they get a 739. We find that if you ring the buzzer and ask them politely to come down 99% of them do anyway. The exceptions are disabled people, once we know where they live we'll then make sure everything goes to the door.

Nothing ever gets left at the communal point other than what will fit in the boxes.

If there are an issues with the intercom we've had letters done by our manager to ask people to check it's working properly and come down when we call them. It's what we're told to do.

And what about student accommodation, some of our walks have 1,000+ apartments. Most have banks of letterboxes on the walls downstairs, then all packets/tracked/signed for/specials go to reception.
