I keep seeing later collections mentioned but where is the demand? Only a few very large companies would want a collection after 5pm and the later opening Post Offices are few and far between.

Changing when the outward and inward finishes in mail centre , professional drivers who currently run work into delivery offices during the night being reviewed , more 17 tonners.

There are quite a few delivery offices in my area ( including one big one ) that a 17 tonner simply can't get into, space won't allow it.

I think the large companies - Amazon, Next,John Lewis etc. - all the big companies whose business we would like to attract would like to be able to access our pipeline later than they currently do and still have next day delivery as an option.

Motherhubbard is spot on. The biggest use of the Internet for buying takes place from 19:00 till Midnight and Royal Mail do not deliver the parcels until the following day. We have an impatient generation who wants their items as soon as possible and this is why Amazon are offering a quicker delivery along with other companies.

This is why Royal Mail want a later acceptance and for those items ordered up to midnight being delivery the next day.

What does One Wave mean?

It means the vast bulk of the mail will arrive on (or later than) what you currently call your second wave.

So when will Royal Mail communicate this "game changing" super duper new 5 year business plan to its workforce or are they and the union quite happy to drip-feed rumour and hearsay and leave the staff/members in the dark?

I thought Dave "new broom" Ward was supposed to usher in a new era of membership communication and engagement, looks like the same old nonsense to me, why are we having to wait on the big knobs having a meeting?, the business plan will still be the same tomorrow no matter what was on today's lunch menu.

What does One Wave mean?

The vast majority of the work arrives at the same time. No 2nd Waggon or 2nd lot of Mech Trays.

Also just like the when they got rid of the old 2nd delivery, the 1st and only delivery was later than the 2nd was. One wave will be the same.

And more than likely so will all the subs from that office once they are told they have got to leave there normal place of work.
My opinion is the people who are paid by the cwu have got alot more to worry about than normal posties as far as job security goes. Just ask any member of the cwu who work in delivery if they would stop in the union if a) there finish time was moved to 5:30-6pm, b) there delivery went from 4:30-5hours - 6:30-7 hours & c) you may have to travel to another place to go to work aswell.
Surely those things have always been most peoples fears, so what would be the point in a union after these things are in? Why would people continue to pay the best part of £16 a month?
I am yet to speak to one person who who stop in the cwu if this lot comes in. And im also yet to hear anything about all this from any manager or branch rep. It really is a strange time.

I think the company will link this in with the pay offer where they can offer an above inflation pay increase out of the massive savings they will make and I'm worried our members will vote for it for a few extra quid.

Will the "vote" be organised by the same independent people that handled the vote for the scrapping of our D2D payments I wonder.If so I feel fairly confident which way it will go.
