This is my biggest gripe

Last Wednesday the mail, catalogue and packet count was literally through the roof. We managed to leave behind the lapsing so we could at least try and work to time although we ended up finishing half an hour over.

The other nut-case that finished at the same time did his own delivery but also managed to take out a few loops that we had left behind as well. It meant he got an extra 3 hours of overtime for it. But if he had done the job properly instead of running, he should have finished at 6.30pm not 3.30pm! He put his hours down for finishing at 6.30pm and yet he leaves the office at 3.30??

Its the same for those who come in and work their day off at short notice so that the managers look upon them favourably. All this shows to upper management is that the unbelievable workloads that we sort and deliver on some days, appears to be achievable. And all it means is that this lapsing will never get taken off.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

And so it will ever be. You will get no support from these people as they think only of themselves.

As a Rep nobody in my office is allowed to work thee week off and that is because it's illegal I don't care about anyones financial situation if you are on leave you are not allowed to work get your rep to go to disagreement. Also they may have taken that leave slot from somebody who wanted it and then they come into work wrong in so many ways.

It's not illegal, it's not even unlawful but it isn't acceptable under the way forward agreement for someone to substitute leave for pay and the PSP system is set up in such a way that it's impossible to work your annual leave week without first cancelling the annual leave.

What this means in reality is that as a rep there is nothing you can do because members are entitled to cancel their leave at the manager's discretion.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share
