EMBURY post office will be moving to become a "modern" open-plan branch.
Royal Mail has not yet announced the date of the move, but says the new premises will have significantly extended opening hours.
The branch will move to Knighton Stores, on Knighton Road later this year.
Post Office services will be provided from an open-plan till at the shop counter of the convenience store, instead of from a separate screened counter.
Regional manager, Will Russell, said: "We understand how important having a Post Office is to residents in Wembury and we are confident that this new modern Post Office service will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future."
Mr Russell added the modernisation is part of a "major investment programme" – the largest in the history of the Post Office.
"[This] marks a commitment to no more branch closure programmes," he said.
Some fixtures and fittings on the street will be re-aligned or removed for clear access into the store.
Royal Mail say it is currently discussing issues like queue layout and asking customers to stand back from the counter whilst they are waiting for service to aid privacy.

I am very sad to hear about the Post Office moving within Wembury.
For one thing, the parking is better and safer in the current location.
For another thing, the shop in which the Post Office is currently located is fantastic and will not survive without the Post Office. The Knighton Road shop hardly has anything I want to buy, but the current Post Office shop has an amazing and useful stock. I have commented on this to friends and neighbours on numerous occasions.
