THE PEC ARE US, THEY ARE POSTIES LIKE YOU AND ME, THEY WANT TO GET IT RIGHT FOR ALL OF US, AND I BET THERE ARE SOME NASTY 'FLEXIBILTY' ISSUES THAT NEED TO BE KICKED INTO TOUCH BEFORE WE CAN VOTE ON IT.![]()
REMEMBER THIS - WHATEVER AGREEMENT IS PUT IN FRONT OF US, YOU KNOW AS WELL AS I DO THAT THERE ARE A LOT OF TURKEYS OUT THERE WHO WILL BE HAPPY TO VOTE FOR CHRISTMAS, JUST LIKE 2004 WHEN THE SEEDS FOR THIS MESS WERE PLANTED! I'M SO PROUD TO SAY THAT I VOTED 'NO' BACK THEN.![]()
YOU AND I WILL VOTE 'NO' IF THERE IS SH*TE IN THE AGREEMENT, BUT THERE ARE SO MANY OTHERS . . . . . . . . .BAAH, BAAH!
OH YES, JUST A DIDDY POINT ABOUT 'SPANISH PRACTICES' FOR THE DELIVERY POSTIE. JOB N' FINSH WAS IMPOSED UPON US IN 2004. SO HOW CAN SOMEONE SAY THAT WE DO SPLITS, ETC BEFORE OUR TIME - CROZIER REALLY IS A VERY STUPID PERSON, AND LIKE HIS BOSS - HAS TO GO!!! - JUST GO!

We must back our Exec or we will be playing right into the hands of the R.M. Stay united .. see what this latest outcome is & then the serious questions can be asked about the leadership of our Union. A new breed of leadership must be installed at Wimbledon .. enough is enough .. BUT now is not the time!
The issue of backlog is debatable. We are now right on the brink of peak mail times. Any strike at any time will cause a massive backlog. With each passing day our strength grows with Christmas looming!! Royal Mail have spent million on their xmas adverts. Imagine what a farce they'd look if we took action
When the PEC finally make a statement we will know whether they have done the right thing or not. These are the people WE elect. How many people on here didn't even bother to vote in the last elections??
This PEC is the result of (a) lack of membership interest and (b) Dependent on where you live not what you know.
Until that changes we will always be in a position where when leaders are needed all we have are followers.
Totally agree

So say we get something to vote on by end of next week, that will be W/E 28/10 and they say 1 month before results of vote are in. That takes it till end of Nov. So lets says its an overwhelming NO.... will the CWU really have the BALLS to announce a rolling strike plan for the 2nd week of Dec... as the 1st week will be the 7 days notice.

Latest News
After the hysteria late on Friday of the court injunction followed closely by the possibility of an agreement being reached we are now in a position of wait and see.
The PEC have met over the last two days and made / carries amendments to the proposed document.
Dave Ward and the negotiating team will now meet with Royal Mail to present the union’s version of the final settlement.
Following this meeting the PEC will reconvene and cast the final vote on whether to accept or reject Royal Mails offer. If the PEC votes to accept the agreement then it will then be put out a full membership vote by post.
I know that members will be worried about the amount of time that progressing this deal is taking but we must remember that the stakes are very high!
Our futures are at stake and the PEC must take this as seriously as possible and go through things with a fine toothcomb. As always as soon as we have any further developments we will relay them to you ASAP.
Keep the Faith

Good point. If the PEC can't get these so-called amendments agreed to by RM, surely it's better to reject the deal this week and give the required 7 days notice of further strikes now, so we're back on official action in late October ? Patience is fast running out in my office, and the level of support for strikes will not be as strong as it was at the outset of this dispute. Wait until the second week of December and we are feckedstressed wrote:So say we get something to vote on by end of next week, that will be W/E 28/10 and they say 1 month before results of vote are in. The press will rip us to pieces, support will be even less than we can expect if we're back out next week, and the public will hate us guys for disrupting their Christmas.
The only other alternative is to let us all have a vote on the deal, and if it's a resounding 'NO', give RM advance notice of strikes to commence straight after New Year, when loads of deferred postings will be hitting the network. That way, we look less like villains in Joe Public's eyes, and RM have over a month to 'grasp the reality of the situation facing them' should they not enter into meaningful negotiations in December, to avert disruption to the business customers that we're supposed to prize above the ordinary domestic mail

As quoted by RM there will be no ammendments 'only clarification'!Carnoustie wrote:Good point.
