I'd vouch for that. We had one of our posties Transfer to the MC and they delight in phoning their old colleagues telling us how much more they're making now.fishtank wrote:

What you say is true Dingo but too many Local reps seem to under performing. More concerned about what they can get out of the system.fishtank wrote:And the reality for the rest?dingo wrote:The reality is that where there is a good rep , membership support ,good Branch support and good divisional support your find that those units don't suffer as much from above and if they do they then use the IR framework and then Industrail Action to resolve the issue..
The position appears to be it's their own fault, a very typical "macho" position to take but ultimately suicidal for a union, why would a member continue to shell out money for poor representation at local and branch level and with national officers who seem quite happy to throw them to the wolves?
The union has done nothing to improve accountability across the board and will ultimately pay the price.
I know the ultimate option is a vote of No Confidence. There doesn't seem anyone else interested in the job so I'd have to run for the position myself. At present (due to Family & Personal Problems) I am just trying to Work Properly and distance myself from the Royal Mail BS. I feel I'm unable to Step Up so I guess I'm just going to have to Shut up for the present.

Re: Pay deal ends in march
Fish I find your posts have missed the questions or points which were being pursued by others comments.
For one I have always argued that where Branch's are not organised that there should be an action plan introduced and reviewed by HQs.
However let's be clear some offices have a good rep and Branch but cannot get the support of the members .
In terms of your comment on Mail Centre average pay , fact is that the supplement is part of an OPGd basic pay and delivery staff have an higher basic pay then mail centre and collection staff.
Of course if some one in a mail centre works an attendance which attracts a shift allowance than of course they receive this. but the early shift do not attract a shift allowance and they receive a smaller basic pay than someone who works in Delivery. Of course due to the ability for Mail Centres to have pools of SA than average pay will be higher.

first off my forum name is halfull not hatful, either your misreading or being childish.dingo wrote:Hatful you seem to think that negotiations at a high level is easy and the solution is to have delivery reps involved ! However let's be honest the complaints on here that walks are too long , bully and harassment is going on , unagreed absorption , acceptance of 100 BSI and more are happening in some of the units where these Delivery Reps work ! If you can change it in your offices than your not going to be a lot of help in national negotiations.
The reality is that where there is a good rep , membership support ,good Branch support and good divisional support your find that those units don't suffer as much from above and if they do they then use the IR framework and then Industrail Action to resolve the issue.
As someone who spends a lot of time negotiating and sometimes bring local reps into the negotiations believe me it is not easy and some local reps do not like the pressure as if things don't go right they become the target rather than management.
Now thats cleared up lets let you know where you are wrong again, the local delivery reps have an impossible job whether they are good or bad makes no difference. The problem with deliveries being way too big is the big wigs in the cwu agreed to planning tools that plan a delivery at 3.5 hours but it takes 5 hours.
Also the big boys in the cwu also agreed that trolleys are as quick as walking with a pouch which all posties already knew would be a disaster, the big brass would not know this as the closest they get to a post round is seeing a postman while they are driving their cars.
Also the cwu have let slide things like delivery to neighbour & totally turned a blind eye to the time it takes & extra walking it involves & thats just one thing.
So how you can have the nerve to blame the local reps who do all the hard stressful day to day tasks for NO PAY OR PERKS for walks being too long is a total disgrace.
Also how does a local rep deal with B&H/daily pressure for absorption/100% bsi being used which most have no clue is taking place as they have no training on bsi? The reps are also in the same boat as the rest of us with an unbearable daily workload so they have no clue where to turn & what to sort out next! Reps release is history no reps get it besides the branch reps. Reps are a target for management & my rep who is great fights all the problems alone,i help where i can & always back him but its a very stressful job sticking up for everyone & knowing they would love you to be gone as they see you as a thorn in their side from doing what they want. Ive heard of many reps being suspended or off sick with stress.
I totally disagree with you & believe local reps & sub reps would be a huge plus at any negotiations for future deals, it needs some young blood with a future to fight for & see what the problems are at the table, not people looking for an easy 5 years before they retire & dont have to deal with the problems after. Many many local reps & posties are very clever & would do great at doing whats right for the workers, not whats right to protect subs.
The one and only thing you are right with is that a rep can be good but with no support from members who come in early, work through breaks dont use kit etc its a waste of time, but the cwu should do way way more to tell people to do the job right or there will be no job.

Re: Pay deal ends in march
just to confirm this is what happened to our D2D money in deliveries. taken from us, and carved up and divided to other staff as well. we get that little bit more because its us that deliver them. its called delivery supplement now so it can be safely stated that 'we don't get paid for ''D2Ds''....in MCs its called ''processing supplement'' or whatever,....but we all know its our D2D money.dingo wrote:Just to confirm delivery staff get £23.58

Re: Pay deal ends in march
anyway dingo, have you got any idea what the next pay deal will be?....there's much talk of a working week reduction without a pay rise. it could well save jobs. our rep reckons there will be no more 3 yr deals. Aprils only about 11 weeks away. would be nice to know what the hierarchy are trying for.

one wave? is this the sequencing you are on about?dingo wrote:You did not get a vote on PSP or PDAs ! This is a computer package which is aimed at recording hours and traffic. Obviously the union will attempt to get safeguards but it cannot veto Royal Mail from buying the package.
Yes we will not be agreeing to one wave under any business plan proposals.

I'm a CSS operator. If there was one wave that would be f***ing mental to handle.
Would end up running "batches" of the mail three/four/five times.
Also if it all came in at once I don't know where we would put it all, and how it would fit in the lorry

read the posts Davey, 1 wave is possibly the next big shambles that we are all expected to adhere too, possibly even by executive actiondaveyeff wrote:one wave? is this the sequencing you are on about?dingo wrote:You did not get a vote on PSP or PDAs ! 1 wave = receiving ALL your mail, packets, specials and tracked in 1 hit, and guess what it won't be coming in earlier

i can see alot of office walkouts from posties that have had enough but cannot see a national strike as our union have no spine & would do anything to keep subs rolling in it seems.arnold cheshire wrote:Are strikes around the corner?
