Mark Luya rescued four-year-old Loki after he was run over in Glebe Way
A woman said she is "eternally grateful" to her postman for saving her cat's life after it was hit by a car.
Sonja Bellew's cat Loki was run over outside her home in Glebe Way, Histon.
The creature sustained life-threatening injuries, but the quick actions of 36-year-old postman Mark Luya helped Loki make a miraculous recovery.
The tomcat was out in the street when he was hit by a car on December 15.
Postman Mark, who lives in Willingham, picked the injured cat up from the road and knocked on doors in Glebe Way in an attempt to locate its owners and raise the alarm.
Sonja was not in at the time, but Mark left the cat with one of her neighbours, enabling Loki to get swift veterinary treatment.
He told the News: "The car hit the cat full impact. I didn't think he was going to survive but the next week Sonja came out and said he had survived and thanked me. He's a tough old cat."
Loki was taken to Hollyoak Vets in Impington where he was treated before being moved to the University Of Cambridge Department Of Veterinary Medicine in Madingley Road, Cambridge.
The vets thought Loki would have brain damage and be partially blind, but Sonja said he has made an incredible recovery over the Christmas period.
Sonja, who works as a nanny and has had Loki since he was a newborn, said: "You wouldn't know he had had an accident now. It's as if nothing ever happened to Loki. It's a miracle.
"If it wasn't for Mark he would be a lot worse, or even could have been hit by the next car.
"I am eternally grateful to Mark for saving Loki's life."
Mark, who's own beloved pet cat died a couple of years ago, added:
"I know what it's like to lose a pet so I'm glad I could save Loki, and Sonja could enjoy Christmas."
