Royal Mail driver threatened with knife by man after woman flagged down van

The driver was forced to hand over £300 in cash in the incident in Cheetham Hill

A Royal Mail driver was held at knife point and forced to hand over £300.

The delivery driver was travelling along Cheetham Hill Road in Cheetham Hill when he came across a woman standing in front of the van.

She flagged the driver down and asked him to help her with a friend.

As soon as the driver stopped a man climbed into the passenger seat.

He threatened the driver with a knife and demanded he handed over his wallet.

The robber took £300 from the wallet, jumped out of the vehicle and made off down a side street along Cheetham Hill Road.

The incident took place at around 2.45am on Thursday morning.

Police have launched an investigation and are appealing for anybody with information to come forward.

The man is described as white, with a skinhead hair cut and aged in his early 30’s.

The woman is white, aged 30 to 35-years-old, of slim build with dark brown hair tied up in a ponytail.

It is unknown what the offenders were wearing at the time.

Anyone with further information can call police on 101.

Biggest mistake was leaving the passenger door unlocked otherwise he might have been able to get away from the incident unharmed, one of he security rules I believe was if stopped is to make sure your door is locked, windows closed only opening it a fraction to speak to whoever it is even if it's VOSA or Police as they have been known to be impersonated by criminals.

An expensive lesson learned there, there is no chance of getting that money back.
