Problems with deliveries have meant one man now has to give a friend’s address in order to receive his post, it was claimed today.
Jeremy Mullis said that since moving to the Market Drayton area in September he has not received numerous letters and parcels he knows were sent to him.
Royal Mail bosses insist there have been no problems with deliveries in the area. But Mr Mullis, of Salisbury Road, said he is constantly frustrated by the standard of service.
He said: “We moved to Market Drayton on September 29 and have been having issues with the post ever since. We have family who have sent us bits and pieces that have never arrived and we have also been sent important documents about our move that we did not receive.
“My wife’s jacket was sent to us but it never arrived. My son has posted us cards and letters we have not got. It has been continual and very frustrating.
"We put in a complaint with Royal Mail and they told us there had been no problems. We also posted a letter to ourselves to see if we got that – we did not.”
Mr Mullis, 54, said he now wants to warn other residents in Market Drayton.
He added: “It is evident we are not the only ones who have had problems. It is very frustrating. An awful lot has gone missing. It’s got to the point that we now tell people to send our post to our friends. Last week was particularly bad. We had no post for several days and then received some two or three weeks after it was sent.”
Other residents have taken to the town’s community Facebook page, Drayton Crier, with their post delivery problems.
Michelle Mellor posted online: “We go days without any then get a huge amount through, all battered and ripped. Earlier in the year my tax credits form kept going missing. They sent it recorded in the end and even that turned up later than expected.”
Sarah Baines added: “My dad has had two very important letters/parcels that have suddenly vanished. They have been checked in at Drayton depot but never been signed out but they can’t find them. He was told it can take over three months to be sorted.”
Royal Mail spokeswoman Val Bodden said: “We are not aware of any delays to deliveries of mail in our operations in this part of the Market Drayton area or to this particular customer.
“All mail is being processed and delivered and we aim to deliver First Class mail the next working day, including Saturdays, and Second Class mail within three working days.
“We handle tens of millions items a day across the UK and every letter is important to us. All our postmen and women work hard to provide a high level of service to all our customers. If the customer has any further complaints, he should contact our customer service team with the details and they will investigate his enquiry.”

Market Drayton man's anger over delayed and missing post
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
