Woring as a Christmas casual but there not been much work and we keep getting sent home and not getting paid.. On our Christmas casual worker terms of engagement book we signed it says..* I hereby consent to work to in excess of 48 hours on average per week during any period of engagement under this casual worker contract with Royal Mail...not fair how they treat us we have kid bills and Xmas to pay for too

All that means is that you agree to work more than 48 hours in a week if the work is available, it's not a guarantee that the work will be available.

Any shift is provisional upon the demands of the business. It is a casual working agreement, after all...

Whilst I'm not totally unsympathetic - on principle, I'm not fond of casual contracts - you should have read and understood the job spec/offer before you accepted it. Or quit. 'Casual' goes both ways.
