Again as I asked earlier did you get authorisation from the manager to claim that overtime prior to working it? ie before you went out that morning was there a conversation with the manger that made him aware you would be claiming overtime

This person is near breaking point. And you ask if she followed procedure?

How about she had never been told ? (no idea)

Show consideration (which I am sure you do)

Someone within the DO needs to help her (whether that be management or staff - though both are self serving)

yes I am asking exactly what happened, it does matter, she is looking for advice so either will need to explain how to claim overtime properly and keep her right or if she is doing that explain to her exactly how to take the matter forward if the manager is properly authorising it and then denying it hence why I am asking if she spoke to the manager in the morning before she went out as that's they crucial piece of information needed to give her appropriate advice

I am a reserve everyday is a different frame maybe on that frame months apart, i be jumped from office to office and not one bit of thanks given from management, he stood me in the office one morning pressurizing me into giving a reason for overtime that the reason i was giving was not good enough, i broke down in tears to this cause i felt like he was telling me i was useless, too slow or not good enough

Now i have just about had enough from them, being made to feel its me! I rush round any run i'm put on , stop and talk to no-one, most times not stopping for my breaks. Im just at breaking point and need someone clearly to tell me whats what!

There is an over-running procedure that most staff are never shown and for reserves it's not fit for purpose. Apparently you're supposed to have a discussion with management each and every single day on whether you can complete or not, very few posties do. They will then decide to take some off you or agree to pay you overtime. As you already know, unless you're the duty-holder, you have no idea if you'll be able to complete or not. And you could ask the duty-holder, but then you'll find that most don't even claim if they go a bit over because they sometimes finish early on a Tuesday, or make the time back in the summer.
The manager is bullying you. They have already won in a way as you are running around, not taking breaks and I bet you're not even claiming every minute you're going over.
The only answer if he's withholding overtime or being difficult to how much you can claim (what a load of bull) is to start working to you're time. But as soon as you do that you'll be even more of a target. If I were you I'd get union involved and also start writing a diary of everything the manager says to you and how you're being treated as you'll most likely have to raise a grievance. If at all possible have the rep or colleague with you every-time you have a meeting or discussion with said manager.
Try not to let this a****** wear you down.

Did you follow the correct over running delivery procedure to be able to claim that over time in the first place? ie was the overtime authorised by a manager before you worked it?

it all is over running of duties,

It is not always apparent that you will be going into OT before you leave the office ZX as management well know. It is not always apparent until well into the duty, but then you phone the office only to find that the Dom has already gone home or you try getting through but the callers office closes the phone at 12:30. Most go on to do unpaid overtime rather than face a disciplinary for "wilfull delay" if they bring mail back. Dom then refuses to pay for hours worked.. It's a scam and a nice earner come bonus time for Doms.

Look, if there's a chance you may go 30 mins over, put down an hr to cover yourself, get any arguments, politely point out that you are willing to complete duty but you ain't doing it for free and if overtime isn't going to be paid then you'll work to time and leave some. Got to stand up for yourself I'm afraid, in this job.

How do I go about getting into the union?!

Sorry to hear your in a state about this. Have you anyone in the office you get on well with, preferably a more experienced postie who doesn't mind speaking up for you or giving some support? Are there any workplace coaches there, if so they should have really been looking out for you if you haven't been there long. A sign of a bully is to get you in a one to one situation as you say, they probably stand up while they ask you to sit. You are well within your rights to politely say you'd rather talk on the shop floor. Good luck with this, don't let them win, stick up to a bully and they normally back down. If you're costing him too much overtime maybe suggest he keeps you on the same duty for a few weeks for you to prove you are quick enough when familiar with a duty. Don't worry, things will turn out ok. Maybe empathise a little with him, say you understand the pressure he must be under from his bosses, however, there's no excuse for him making you feel the way you do. There are ways and means of handling this situation, I'm sure you'll be ok. Atb.
