swapping duty question

Basically me an my colleague both do 25 hour mon to Fri only difference is he finishes at 5pm and I finish at 6pm. I want to finish at 5pm and want to finish at 6pm . Is this straight forward or can they be an obstacles in this request.

assuming you are both trained to do each others job and its a one off, i would say no. just inform the lino and bookroom.

I can envisage potential problems if the swap is more permenant.

If its a permanent swap then yes there could be problems, a more senior part timer may have wanted his duty but an able to pick it as he was more junior than that part timer but is first in line as more senior to you, so it's not just a simple swap if permanent, best thing to do is ask the union rep

Will do, I just thought that it's not as if both of us are gaining anything as we will still be on our same contracted hours, but will ask when I get in.
