Chrismas casual Royal Mail

Hi I will be working as a temp Christmas casual at Royal Mail for a couple of weeks however I'm not happy about
my hours as they seem too long is there anyway I could cut down the hours I have chosen at the registration event.
Who should I contact to do this?

It's 8am till 8pm shift I don't know what I was thinking when I chose that shift I'll probably be dead by 8pm!!! I am thinking about quitting as it's too much and letting Royal Mail know

I doubt that they would have a 12 hrs a day contract as its quite a physical job. My guess is that they put that up to get an idea of when you are available, I think the actual hours you'll be asked to work are probably 6 or 8. I'd contact them,if you can, and confirm the hours.

Hi thanks for letting me know yes 12 hour shift is just too long I can do at most 6 hours i'll contact them to confirm this.
Also as it's Xmas casual is it like Angard where they just text you and see if you are available can we just pick and choose shifts?

No christmas casuals are usually for a semi fixed term and are usually on set shifts. At least they were when I was one.

Hi, wonder if you can help me. My son has applied for a Christmas Casual position and has an interview slot next week. He is at university and is travelling down by train and missing lectures so he can attend. I have read somewhere that people have turned up at the registration events to learn that the jobs have all been filled - is this a possibility?

Also he would not be able to start until Monday 14th December will this be a problem?

He is very keen to work full time for a couple of weeks and hopefully repeat each year but don't want him to travel for 8 hours if there is little chance of a position - I accept there is no guarantee that he will get the job.

It is but its rare so its a fairly remote possibility.

If he does not advise them at the interview it might be, however most of the contracts end automatically on 24 Dec, sometimes earlier if the level of post reduces.

As long as he is truthful it shouldn't be a problem, in fact it might help him if there is a mail centre within travelling distance of his University and he wants to do some casual work outside of Christmas.
