Recruitment processes

Post by pmuir83 »

Hi guys, after some advice. I received an email on Tuesday saying I had been successful and my security check were going to be done. I was to log into my account to provide details for the security checks. I wasn't successful for the job I was initially interviewed for, so when I log into my account it doesn't have any information on the one they are offering me so I can't provide the info they are asking for. I've emailed them 3 times now but not getting any response. Is there anything else I can do?
I also got another email within an hour of the 1st one saying I will start on Monday 23rd November. It asks me to reply with answers to some questions, such as will this be my only job, do I have any health issues and what are my bank details for payroll purposes. Is this normal? I find it strange that they would email to ask for bank details??

That sounds about right. They need your bank details to pay your wages in.

pesh is right about the bank details being required, but I too had concerns about sending my bank details
by email which can be intercepted by anyone.

I mentioned this at the indcution day outbrief (at which a member of Sheffield HR was present) and frankly
they weren't too concerned!! They said I could have rang up to give the bank details but there is no
contact number for you to ring when you are in the recruitment process!!

Having come from a background that involved IT security, there are programs out there that can mass
scan emails for sort code and account number formatted information. Scammers may not immediately
be able to easily withdraw funds using the information but they could intercept the email and change
the details to another account number to divert your wages until you noticed!

I kept a close eye on whether first weeks wage got paid into my account when it should have!!

Thanks. It's a bit more reassuring knowing others have been through the same processes. I find the recruitment processes with RM very different to any other job. I've never worked for a company who don't make it easy for you to talk to someone in recruitment. I tried all of last week but couldn't get to speak to anyone.
I've read quite a few posts on here that say they have received the same emails as me but then waited 3-4 months without hearing anything more. I have another job which I need to give notice to so don't know what to do. I know I'll pass the security checks, had loads done in past for jobs. They gave me a start date of 23rd November which is only 2 weeks away so need to give my current job notice just now. Worried that I'll do that then not hear anything back from RM for ages!! I suppose it'll all be fine once I do start but the process up to that point isn't the best.

One night I found a shilling at the bottom of my tankard and then I woke up on delivery

it was a £5 when they got me in the 80s. As far as I know they still pay the Queens shilling when you attest, but they take it back in your first wage.
