I know our rounds are timed so if we get out five minutes late we get back five minutes late and from carrying heavy bags my back really hurts.
On our sign in sheet we have a weight limit but nobody weighs their bags knowing they are overweight.
Just after some info on this :-)
You don't carry bags anymore , you pull a l/w trolley
You do if it isn't an LWT loop.

Nor do you use a LWT if it's completely impractical to use it, if the terrain is bad, tell your manager you want the loop changed to reflect that it's more difficult to use a trolley than it would to carry a lightweight pouch. You're also allowed to use common sense believe it or not, if you only need a trolley to carry 1 bundle & maybe 2 Amazon DVD sized packets, then it's alright to use a lightweight pouch.
One bundle loops??
How small are your loops .
Ml loops are usually 6 bundles and 10 parcels.
You cant carry that in a bag on the shoulder

I'm being put into a round as of next week so shouldn't be using the hct again, but my shoulder is knackered and so is my back from the heavy bags

How can it be less than 1 minute for LWT when you've got to knock doors/wait/fill out form lefts?

I only have four loops. Each is two bags 16Kg each on a trolley.

It's mind boggling how small some people's loops are.

No I mean 2 bundle as in only 1 in your bag & 1 in your hand.

On the walk I was covering on Saturday there was a couple of 2 bundle loops, with maybe 4 or 5 small'ish packets.

In total I think if I recall there was 6 or 7 loops each though on that particular duty.

What is the difference between leaving a lwt and a pouch? Anyone could easily get mail out of either?!

A scally could hoik a pouch over his shoulder and sprint off down the street with it. If he tried that with a LWT he'd do an injury, and it would probably take him a while to work out that the bags just unhook off the side. A mail bag just lying there on the floor does look more tempting to an opportunistic thief than a LWT even if one is actually just as secure as the other. That's my reasoning anyway, dunno if that's the official reason.

I leave my van for nearly 45 minutes while pushing a lwt .if this is the case I've never heard of it and it wasn't taken into account in the planning when the planner planned 30 to 50 minute loops.

No the Vans bit is for when or if you leave a small pouch on the front seat.
From the other document that Fishtank linked
Secure the MB44 pouch to the front passenger seat and ensure the pouch flap remains closed at all times when the vehicle is moving Only leave an MB44 pouch containing mail in the cab of an unattended vehicle for NO longer than 10 minutes. Every effort should be made to make this occurrence an exception and not the norm
Wasn't it 25 minutes per loop, per person on either side of the van? I find the trollys roll down hills quite easily if they are packed up with letters/flats. Its easier putting parcels in pouches, and maybe a bundle as well while carrying a bundle, and then doing a final sweep with over-weights. Time wise, It still depends on physical ability and common sense.

What is the procedure for delivering to over a hundred houses that each have an average of 13 steps to their front doors? Do you carry a bag? Do you use a LWT? Or do you use a HTC that doesn't fit in the back of your van? The LWT will get stolen before you get to the bottom of the steps!

You put that to management. If they say use a trolley and it gets nicked, it's not your fault or problem. Always put the ball in their court.
