Our CEO discusses preparations for Black Friday

In the October edition of Courier, our chief executive officer Moya Greene looks at the internet shopping phenomenon Black Friday.

Last year, online sales in the UK were up 37% on 2013. Moya expects it will be even bigger and busier this year. Black Friday now marks the start of Christmas shopping for many businesses.

She talks about our campaign for Christmas casuals, which is now in full swing, and says: ‘We will be offering late opening hours and Sunday opening at many of our delivery offices, and we will open additional parcel sort centres to deal with the extra mail we know we’re going to get.’

Moya also mentions the third anniversary of our Royal Mail standard, Delivery to Neighbour.

‘We know that 94% of the public like this service,’ she says.

‘To make it even better, we introduced Nominate a Neighbour earlier this year and we will continue to improve and enhance the service that we offer our customers.’

Finally, Moya issues a rallying call for the festive period.

She says: ‘We are all living and breathing it, and I know every one of us will be doing all we can to make it another successful Christmas for Royal Mail and our customers.’
