Postman’s petition gains a sackload of supporters

A sacked postman’s petition has attracted more than 1,000 signatures.

David Mitchell, of Chance Inn, launched an online petition demanding judges’ findings be final in UK employment law.

Royal Mail is yet to give him his job back at Cupar delivery office despite an employment tribunal finding he was unfairly dismissed.

Colleagues and customers on his round have rallied to support his fight for reinstatment, as ordered by a judge.

Mr Mitchell, who was accused of stealing cards containing gift vouchers and money, is due to meet Royal Mail, which has requested a reconsideration hearing, on November 9.

A judge found insufficient evidence of Mr Mitchell’s guilt.
