DESPERATE for a transfer!! PLEASE ANY ADVICE WOULD HELP!

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone can help me or give me some information, i have currently being working for royal mail now for just over 12 months, but due to recent circumstances, my partner had to relocate in her job, i found out that Royal Mail can transfer people so i decided to ask my manager about a transfer, he keeps telling me that the area i need to go he knows the area manager well and has sent him an E-mail, this was in January this year, i have gone back to him again in the past few weeks (yes that long!!)to see again if he can get me the transfer and yet again when i ask if he has spoke with the area manager of my desired location he says he has sent an email, i was just wondering if anyone knows a number i can ring or who i can speak to, to push harder for it, i was told something that i need to go see a union rep and they put my name on a transfer list ?? not sure if this it correct, but i am getting the the point now where its making me very depressed which i have mentioned to my manager, i just feel like each door i try is locked, so any advice would be highly appreciated.

First thing you need to do is make sure there is a postion[are there full time or part time hours to suit you?] avaible in the DO you want to transfer to....namely get in touch with the DOM concerned & arange an informal chat; see where you stand .Not trying to put a downer on it ; but it took me best part of 4 years to get a result!BEST OF LUCK

Postie in our office transfered in after being told no from his manager 5 times by just doing it the other way round was done very quick then and another transfered out by doing same thing also alot quicker than the ones doing it through office they we're in

Thanks for the advice, i have phoned a few DO's in the location i want and they have told me they have positions and hours available for me, ive spoken to my current DO manager and he just said he will get in touch, think i might just sort it myself and ring the DO manager at my chosen location again 2moro and discuss with him.
