There's your answer. Why would the DOM increase your contract hours when he's got people happily doing the hours anyway?
Guess you're either a full-timer or are happy with your part-time hours then.
In our offices, if we didn't do the available overtime the full-timers would do it anyway.
No, why would you think that? I'm part time and pretty desperate to get a full time contract. All I'm saying is put yourself in the DOM's shoes. People are working overtime and all the work is getting done, why would you want to increase peoples contracts and pay them more when they are off sick or on holiday? If people got together and agreed to cut the overtime they did, then the DOM might realise that the only was to get the work done was to give people proper contracts.
POST RECOMMENDED.
Currently we (allegedly) have 3 F/T vacancies. Management have agreed to make 3 P/T's up as long as they are "flexible with their days off". Ie; Tuesdays. They have said no, so the situation continues. All the P/T staff currently work F/T hours. If all P/T staff (10 in my office) started at their correct time, every single one would eventually get unconditional F/T contracts as there is not enough manpower to cover the work.
There is no allegedly there either is or isn't vacancies, your dom can't cut hours in the office without agreement, if the vacancies have been there for 6 months they should be filled straight away same as if the total of vacancies are over 5% of staff
He ain't cutting hours. Overtime is being paid to cover these vacancies so there is no need to employ or promote.
Understaffed for nearly 2 years now.

gt your rep to lodge a stage 1 disagreement about it, gt the rep to follow the ir process it works you will find that these vacancies get filled

Go to headquarters ?
Don't make me F****** LAUGH !!
Take out a disagreement ??
Ooooohh !! My side are splitting.
The rep doesn't need to agree with what he is putting the disagreement in over, he just needs to do it, that's what he was elected for if he won't do what you ask then contact area rep and if he won't then branch the system does work if you just use it correctly put all requests in writing
