Another Fun Day at the factory!!!

Just Arrived home after i done a collection that i never done before now the reason I'm posting here is cause i am not too sure in if rules changed my questions is: can they take you off your duty and put you on a different one because the person they arranged to cover the different one only knows your duty and won't do it if he gets given the duty that i have done they given today bear in mind i signed for this duty i had in mind that they could only do that if they were lapsing the duty that i was doing but i might be wrong....

They knew this collection was out yesterday and talked with the guy 24 hours before but never mentioned anything to me today when I'm out delivering around 14:10 get a phone call from him you need to change your collection for me today witch i told him i can't i don't know where i am going never done it before he kinda threaten me on the phone but not actually said the words but in sarcastic way i can swap you know and there's nothing that no one can do about it this was line manager what i answered well i am too sure on this but i don't think you can he said i call you back so probably went to speak with DOM when i came back from delivery they were waiting for me called me in the office and said a line manager forgot to cover walk 31 so we needed to move the colleague doing hy-3 to do that walk and we need you to swap with your other colleague cause he only knows yours and i answered well i only know mine as well what makes us different?? they answered well you're more experienced and i answered well we still get paid the same and he is not a new boy on collections as he can do mine he just doesn't know where he is going like i do.... what he then answered i stopped someone pay this week cause they didn't want to change duties and went sick with stress while on duty basically he said i was on duty the only way i could get out of it was by resigning is this true i found it very frustrating but walked out and done it now am i dreaming?? i do feel like I've been victimized here bear in mind i just been off sick with stress cause of unfair treatment come back Monday after a month off and i come back to this?? the person they put on the walk knows every single collection the guy that covered my collection only knows mine and walks regular the person that was put on the walk does collections normally now i ask is it me? do i have a leg to stand on this??

Basically they pay your wages so yes they can ask you to comply with a reasonable request. Is it reasonable to ask you to do a collection blind? Yes and no. It's normal work they are asking you to do but it is also unfamiliar.

That's why everyone is sent out with someone who knows the collection before going out on their own.

You could certainly put in a grievance and the findings might be that if this situation occurs in the future they need to do better. Doing better would have been paying TWO of you to go out so one could check the paper work/route while the other drove. I bet you would have been a bit of a risk on the roads today rushing round and reading directions while driving? That is not on and you could have a strong case for being asked to do the impossible (complete an unknown collection on time) and so being forced to drive unsafely.

Your dom can swap you around duties as long as it's a reasonable request, putting you onto a duty you have never done before with no training would not be a reasonable request however if the only option is of you or a less experienced member of staff then it would still be an unreasonable request but it would be the least unreasonable than putting the other guy out on it and therefore yes you would have grounds for a grievance but at most you would probably get was yes you deserve an apology but it was the best course of action available in a poor situation


However threats of stopping pay etc are not on at all. That is definite grounds for grievance

Just remember in future he can swap you, but you only need to work to your contracted finish time, if doing a collection or route you don't know take your time better to get it right and cut off leaving some mail or boxes un emptied than messing up and do something wrong you get in trouble for, just follow the correct cut off procedure, I am pretty sure the threat of un scanned boxes may change his attitude

cool i just find it out of order cause i was in the same shoes as other person and they could've put the person that done my collection doing the walk and just give the collection to the familiar person hence why i took more personal and the fact that they lied and said that only found out that walk 31 was uncovered at 14:00 so they had to do it like this and then the guy tells me they asked him to do my collection yesterday morning!!! but nothing got ever mentioned to me...i just get really angry they always messing up and then we have to clean after them it's very frustrating specially when he occasionally out of the blue mention the person that he stop pay 3 days ago for not doing what he wanted got me very fired up... but just inside i didn't show it :)

Maybe worth telling person who's wages were stopped that dom is telling people in the office this, that's confidential information and dom could get in big trouble for telling people this

Not unless he gave other info that could clearly identify who it was, ie detailing exactly when the absence was that he stopped pay for, basically just assume you didn't know who it was, did he give you enough information in that call to identify the person? If so then he could be in big trouble

Went In Today And noticed that 2 managers were off and a planner was replacing one of them can they do this leave a planner in charge??
