And what about when we start with this world class mail? An office near ours is supposedly going through the change to enable this. If what I hear about the basics of world class mail are true (everything in the office MUST go), then you're back to square one, with no filtering and more delay waiting for mail to be sorted, before you get out on a duty that's already too big.

That office, going by your name, may be us. :Very Happy

WCM has no effect on the current/previous rules about a clear office policy, or the overrunning deliveries procedure or the the rulings on overtime being voluntary.

If your duty is too big, or there is too much traffic for that particular day then streaming is still a Management decision and as long as they make that decision and do so in writing, as the overrunning delivery procedure states they should, then stream away - However, its their decision on whether to stream or not and its their decision on what to stream - on no account should you make either of those decisions yourself.

Ok. Like I said, I'd only heard about it in passing. Lead to believe it was a whole other way of working i.e even stricter than now.
As for streaming, it just seams like another slippery move for managers to take to avoid either getting the mail you leave covered or having to do it themselves. Picking single items out surely takes more time; if you're going to pretty much every house with stamped mail anyway, it's a waste of time esp. if you're trollying as supposed to be.

Not bollocks. I do not decry the Reps. But at some point they have to stand up and take these practices down.

I believe that Reps have one of the hardest jobs going.

In my DO ; we have Management doing OPG's work (prepping walks ; on IPS etc) . When raised with Union Rep , then nothing happens.

That is why i used the term 'weak'

But if you think the rep is weak, why don't you all down tools when management do OPG grade work. I firmly believe a weak Union rep is caused by lack of support both in the Unit and from Branch. Now a corrupt rep is something different and you do need a strong unit to get rid of them.

Exactly. The rep is only as strong as the support of the office he/she represents.

It is *still* going on in our office. Another round riddled today, which is incidentally the round I am on tomorrow (i'm a day-off cover)

Strangely the duty-holder still had time to throw in all his door-to-doors before going out. Doesn't seem very fair to me but hey ho, if I have to cut-off tomorrow, it will come back to bite him on Wednesday.

That happens in our office too, they do IPS, throw off, set in and deliver when they cannot get anyone else to do it - I personally don't see anything wrong with it.

Really?
Maybe mention it to your rep tomorrow if he/she didn't realise today?

Make those managers squirm :Very Happy

What is the d2d policy? Sounds suspect

It's a row a day. If you have time to throw in 3 rows, then you have time to finish your round.

Is there any update on union policy in regard this issue? Is it still a breach of the USO and should be reported? If so who to? The past week or so our office has been told to riddle/stream the mail rather than cutting off, as was previously the case, yet when questioned, managers refuse to put it in writing, stating only that it has been instructed by their managers above them.

Has the policy changed recently? Any help appreciated.

Its still current and it should be reported to the ADR (via rep if possible) for onward transmission up the chain.

It's nice being dumped in it but all managers want is things covered up there should be a book for RIDDOR in all offices but ERICA is another kettle of fish it all stinks when their is no managers left in the office! it's like a nice cup cake turns into a black forest gateau for them all and they want to keep eating gateau while they do f**k all and going back to eating cup cakes is a never never affair with them and admitting their is a problem is going back to cup cakes for them!

I need to take this further now. Is there a document that outlines the over-running procedure and states non-equivocally that no mail should be brought back to the office after delivery i.e. mail shouldn't be riddled while out delivering.

I'm being asked to take all mail out with me, and only deliver first class and dated and bring the rest back. How is this not fraud? It allows managers to state that the office is clear of mail when they know mail will be coming back afterwards and not reporting it. Basically I am liable for any mail I bring back am I not? I need something in writing to cover myself in this regard. Thanks for any help.
