just finished my day at dumfries, what a shithole, mail stacked all over, what i took out didnt make any difference , finished on my time, no flats drop bag not touched, streamed mail, moved our start time back by 40mins, steve cameron driven idea, make us start later in the hope we might bash on to catch up the lost time, what a tosser, this and pensions better be sorted ,65 percent of our mail is in by 5 am,what do these clowns decide on ? a later start,
here we have no strike breakers, and the message is solid no flexible working, leave our pensions alone, and until they remove imposed conditions there will be know goodwill from this unit,

well, we had absolutly no mail in our D.O today, i know its all still at the mail centre waiting to be sorted, some people were out of the door by 8 o clock today ,bagged up and gone, couldnt beleive it

mind you our manager has all but admitted he hasnt got a clue whats going on,what time we are supposed to go who has there meal breaks ,its an absolute shambles .

i have been working to my time for the last 18 months, but today i couldnt do it , there wasnt enough mail through the system .this is the problem RM cant give us 8 hours work to do on a tuesday, and they are screwing us for it :mad

it's a WTR in my DO, mail is being left, there's no yorks or alts left cos they're all full of mail. people just taking enough to last til finish. They had to hire loads of vans cos we've no drop boxes. There's no O/T to try to catch up, my section alone left about 150 trays of flats til tomorrow and we had at least 2 days worth of mech this morning.
everone says it's far easier like this, no pressure, just work to time and cos we're all doing it (with a few exceptions) there's no attempt by bosses to force anyone to do more.

Work to time

Post by coppertop »

I have now started to work to my 318 and it is brill as has been said no pressure just go in and do your job and yes they leave you alone cos if they pester I just tell them that I will have to cut off. And with so many cut off's at the mo they just walk away.

I worked out how long the backlog will last during my break today - depending on what RM mean by 40% underworked.
Without doing excess we should either clear the backlog today (Tuesday) or this Saturday.
According to the news it could take 3 weeks to clear the backlog which means they think we do only 20% less work than we should.

Unfortunately, if we actually do 40 hours work in a 40 hour shift then the backlog will last forever.

I'm still delivering hundreds of letters marked the 4th,9th and 10th.

UPDATE

Backlog at WR MC as from 0800 today
168 RSC of inward mail :arrrghhh
120 yorks of inward mail :arrrghhh
Managment have relented on booking pressure overtime, they have finally realised that they are in the sh*t.
The backlog here is not going to be cleared for at least a couple of weeks. The place is a total mess.

In our D.O. we can't keep up with the mail coming in, never mind whats accumulated from the strikes etc,
we have too few sorters on the IPS to deal with whats coming in each morning,
the managers haven't got the 1st clue what to do about it, they tell us to cut off at about 07.45 to prep our walks and leave the mail to build up even more,
as far as i know, no one has been offered overtime to sort it, and if there was anyone who intended doing so, i'd have a not so quiet word with them. :evil/mad
