workload to resourse
both reps today were on about the recent national meeting at York regarding this WTR, they say RM are looking a scrapping the length of the delivery span, effectively making it possible to be delivering for the whole of you're shift. some people said it was garbage, others said it was scaremongering. I think its a bit of both....as usual Bob Gibsons name came up whenever they seem to be agreeing to bollox. anyways questions came in left right and centre.... where are they going to find the extra work, after all, the mail is declining
. answer....when people go sick or are on annual leave, the duties will be shared out. (what are reserves for?) the delivery span can only be as long as our actual working day, less the time it takes for sorting, prepping, loading vans, van checks, conveyance,...not forgetting 40mins meal break.....answer.....they are looking at ''blitzing'' the indoor work so that we come in pick up the mail and go straight out????? they couldn't answer that one. what are the health implications of 6 or 7 hr deliveries...answer,,it hasn't been thought through yet, that's why they've put a stage one disagreement in. why is Bob Gibson agreeing to all this shite....answer,,dont know...are we going to get a vote on these radicall changes?..answer ,,,don't know.....YOU COULDNT MAKE THIS SHITE UP.

Re: workload to resourse
How could anybody work that length of time with just 40 mins break. We all know in the summer that being out in the hottest part of the day is dangerous and as for winter how could any company justify being out in sub zero tempreturs for that long. And if our office is anything to go by, the sick abscence is long enough for people that have bad legs, back and shoulders. So thinking about it they could be asking us to walk 20- 30 miles a day 48 weeks a year

Re: workload to resourse
I could be wrong but i think it's known as Resource To Workload, if you add up all the things that are already happening in offices up and down the country you'll see it's started already
If the trial on the one wave of sequenced mail works then that will free up a lot of prep time which will no doubt be used to cut staffing levels. The more work done before it reaches the delivery office the better as far as RM are concerned, not sure how it will work with packets but i'm sure they've a plan!
P.S. is there such a thing as a delivery span anymore?

Ours are meant to be around 4:45 but very few are and many are just not achievable.

Re: workload to resourse
6 to 7 hour delivery, that will kill the staff...
If the union agree to that, there is no need for a union, there not defending its members..
End up collapsing out on delivery...

Re: workload to resourse
If they bring in them machines that can sort and sequence flats and letters together then all IMPS, CFCs, iLSMs and CSS machines will be redundant, it might also make TOPS 2K machines redundant. it might give RM scope to get packet sorting machines in some extra MCsfosal29 wrote:Perhaps this shows what be the future will be. Re: workload to resourse
After reading through some of the links it seems to me that at Royal Mail we would need a lot better equipment at delivery level to make some of it work.unless we get bikes back or electric scooters we cannot have an 8 hour delivery span.even the trolleys I use these days look like they are doing the splits from the weight on them.and more often than not the vans we use in park and loop are full from top to bottom these days and not fit in my view for what the original method was intended for.we would need massive investment in delivery equipment and in my office you are lucky if a pda has 50% charge let alone a stylus or keypad that works.

Re: workload to resourse
if the union top dogs agree to 6-7 hour deliverys in the next deal then we get the chance to vote yes or no. Simple vote no!
We have the power to vote yes or no! It narks me when posties at my DO moan about the last deal what a mess its left delivery offices in as they were the ones who voted for it! overwhelmingly!! I voted no & will vote no for every deal until workload is sorted out. I dont care about a poxy tenner a week rise or lump sum or bonus scheme attached to a deal that makes our working lives even more unbearable!
Bob gibson needs to come into delivery offices & look at whats going on to his members with this workload.

Re: workload to resourse
any foot postie in their right mind will vote no to 6 or 7 hour delivery's that's assuming we will get a vote. but I think if they want to sell us that crap they will come out with all sorts of doom and gloom senarios to get a yes. just look at 'unlimited d2d. who can say they voted for that,,,,i know I didn't.
