But why can't we be told what the deal might be?

Is it the Union or RM management who insist on secrecy?
I don't know what lies behind the secrecy, but perhaps it's because we're very close to an agreement that maybe the union execs are not prepared to letting go sensitive info just now in case it will create some misunderstanding, and or a wildfire of wildcat strikes.
We posties do things differently, but we still get shot at!

Yes,good point.
i was told this morning that senior RM managers were meeting today, and tomorrow we would all be briefed
on the 'deal'
you couldn't make this up!
Given that the latest offer is still an unacceptable deal, but the only deal we could accept,it seems ridiculous
that the PEC leave it until now to offer what will effectively be counter proposals.
i'm sorry but couldn't all this have been settled through ACAS or skilled negotiators such as Billy Hayes :arrrghhh
Some will argue that we have forced concessions through industrial action, but as it stands we have actually gained
nothing.
Maybe RM are hoping that the workforce will lose the will to fight,i think the Union are doing the job
for them.

i wonder why we are given very little information on the content of the so called deal,
my unit rep has been told nothing or very little,
why are we always the last to know? maybe we will have to wait for 'The Sun' or other Gutter Press, to detail it all for us!
lets face it do the press quote 'nothing but the truth'?
i think RM are waiting for our 'Wildcat Members' to return to work before we have the full details in front of us [a sign of good faith!],
