Equality in contracted hours

Hi,
I've been working as a relief since 2006 on a 30 hour contract. I had an illness and surgery 4/5 years ago and have since been classed as having a disability by Atos.
All the other reliefs in my area who have had a similar length of service have had their contracted hours increased over the years to either 36 or 39 hours ( to represent their average amounts of hours worked to cover duties).
I have always been refused this increase but have mostly been satisfied with booking an hour or twos overtime every day when covering walks.
With the expected cuts in overtime, increased summer lapsing etc I am obviously now losing out more and more.
As I have certain restrictions of which walks I can and can't do, due to my disability, I am not as useful to the management as other reliefs and think this is the reason my contracted hours have never been increased.
I have always worked 36 or 39 hours every week ( apart from recent summer lapsing) and wondered if my contracted hours should have been increased to reflect this.
Do you think I would have a case for discrimination as I said, all other reliefs have had their hours increased?

The increase in contracted hours should have been done on a seniority basis, so if you are more senior to people who have had their hours increased in your office then you would have a case for a grievance

Thanks for reply. Sorry for not explaining.
We are not all working in the same office because we are traveling reserves covering annual/ sick leave in various SPDOs in our area. I know for a fact that many, if not all, other reliefs in my area even with less service than me have had their contracted hours increased to 36/39 hours.

It's your office that counts, if you are most senior in your office then you should have got the hours, what happens in other offices in your area doesn't count yes they may be doing same or similar job but it's the office you are tagged to that counts for the budget and increase in hours, you are employed by a set do, your home do so to speak that's where the equality must be

Hi, please could i ask how on earth you go about getting this increase in your contracted hours??!! Ive bin on a 25 hour contract for over 2 years but over this two years ive regularly worked at least 39 hours per week, if not more. Any advice/info, i would be most grateful

simply ask your dom to increase the hours to what you do every single week and have been doing for last 2 years, if he refuses then get rep to help you lodge a grievance if it's just you or a disagreement if several people affected

Thanks for the reply. I like hw u said, SIMPLY, ask your dom! Ive asked loads of times but he just says no chance, u'll never get an increase on your 25 hours. Its nt just me, theres loads of us working 39+ hours a week but were all on 25 hour contracts.

in that case just get the rep to lodge a disagreement about it and follow th ir process, it's also worth asking the dom in writing that way you have proof you tried to resolve it before going down a grievance or disagreement route

Been told today that my start time is being put back to 8.30 and that I'll only work my contracted hours and that the walks that I'll be covering will be thrown in by others at the office (same as summer lapsing!).
Do you think I've got a case of a grievance? Also, forgot to ask, is there some sort of agreement that part-timers hours should be reviewed every 6 months and contracted hours increased to reflect hours being worked?

No case for grievance if they get others to throw it in, only case for grievance is if you continue to work over every week (not just an average) and then ask for the contract to be made up, if they don't then lodge a grievance

There's your answer. Why would the DOM increase your contract hours when he's got people happily doing the hours anyway?

Because this is what the agreement says he should do if we are regularly working these hours!!!
