Post boxes vanishing across Trimsaran and Pontyates

POST boxes are vanishing across rural Carmarthenshire areas.

Four or five boxes have been taken in the Ferryside, Pontyates and Trimsaran areas over the past few days.

Dyfed Powys Police PCSO Stephanie Maiello said she had been approached by a postman who had noticed the boxes going missing.

She said: "The little ones which are not attached to anything have been going missing.

"Some people have them in weddings so they might be collecting them.

"The post inside has also been taken as you need a key to open the boxes.

"We want people to be aware of this issue and be vigilant."

Miss Maiello said Royal Mail had been made aware of the missing boxes.

She said: "It is taking place in very rural areas. But we need to make people aware as it could start happening in other areas if they aren't stopped."
