EVR suspended at Gatwick

Post by steviemac »

Just as letters were about to be sent to those accepting EVR , RM have suspended the process without any explanation to Reps . Does anyone have information on this last minute change by RM as the numbers of VR had been agreed with Union and no reason given to Local or Area Rep involved ?

Probably because they wont have the staff if they leave, I know because the ones who left in my office on EVR have left a massive hole in staffing that we can't fill.

I wouldn't be surprised if the same were to apply in every MC

Unfortunately they can withdraw VR/EVR offers at any time until they send the letters giving Last Day of Service notice. They don't have to give a reason, they don't care about the problems and uncertainty it causes for staff who were planning their lives on it.
If they do give a reason it will be 'operational requirements', which means they have realised they still need those staff.

My bet is that they will withdraw current offer and then offer new packages under new MTSF EVR agreements recently declared which cuts out the pension enhancement and limits payout to the 2 years salary maximum.

Thank you all , suspect new agreement limiting max payout to no more than 2 years is a big factor in halting the process in order to make revised offers at a lower rate.

I was thinking of applying for a transfer there on earlies (I work in logistics).
I take it that`s out of the question if they`re cutting staff....or are they?
What`s it actually like at Gatwick? I`ve not worked in a mail centre for about 13 years now!

If you a artic driver you may still have a chance. Gatwick is at risk of being moved long term due to Gatwicks proposed 2nd runway being going thru the Mail Centre if they get it.

Thanks. I work indoors so was wondering what different duties there might be on earlies. Do RM own Gatwick or is it leased?
