Our CEO discusses regulation and looks ahead to Christmas

In the September edition of Courier, our chief executive officer Moya Greene looks at the challenges facing us over the next few months.

Moya talks about a recent visit to Bristol where she met frontline colleagues. She says: ‘I’m encouraged by the ideas you have for our business.’

‘I often get asked about the changes we are undertaking, and what is to come. Well, as I said in Bristol, I think change will be continuous.

‘We face the twin challenges of a very competitive industry and a regulator looking closely at how we operate. We need to evolve and adapt to prosper.’

On dealing with the regulator, Moya talks about our recent submission to Ofcom in response to the regulator’s fundamental review of our service.

She says: ‘The outcome will be critical to our future. We are doing everything we can to ensure our voice is heard.’

Finally, Moya looks ahead to our most important time of the year, Christmas: ‘Our plans are laid. We’ve improved our offering. We’ve updated and streamlined our processes. We’re hiring extra people.

‘Maintaining our standards and quality of service over this period is essential for Royal Mail. It is our time to show what we can do, and shine.’

Dear Moya, you need to be hiring some extra people in delivery, not just processing, you can run the operation 25 hours a day, 8 days a week, if you don't put resources into the sloggers that deliver it, it ain't going to happen. In our office we cut off now on a regular basis. It's not even busy yet. Happy new year babe.

What about maintaining our standards and quality of service throughout the year ? No mail delivered for 10 days in some parts of the UK, so I read on here.

we and a few more cut off everyday so it wont matter over the busy 3 weeks we only have at xmas so the dims say , the rest of the year we are a load of lazy overpaid sh***s according to the powers above , all I can say is the managers are going to be busy at xmas in our area , merry xmas moya.

I think moya needs a reality check....

She needs to be dumped on a walk daily, then go out on it and deliver it... for a week... then moya might just see how rediculously over loaded work is forced on staff..

Reading the courier was just a totally out of touch with reality of delivery offices... a complete sham and insulting piece of propaganda nonesense i have ever seen...
