Am I Paid For Breaks?

Hi i have recently started on a 25hr contract but work from 7.50 to 14.30. Will be paid for 6hrs as im told that 10mins at start of shift and 20mins at end of shift are break times. Does this mean that i do not get paid for my breaks?

the 30 minutes should be taken DURING your paid hours. You ARE paid for them.

They cannot make you take them at the beginning or end of your duty either. Ideally somewhere near the middle of your day but not always practical.

There's more to this than just breaks I think, the sums don't add up, how many days do you work and what's the start and finish times including breaks? 1 don't think it's going to add to 25 going by what timed you put in the first post

HI,
I did not explain my situation properly earlier.
I am on a 25hr temp contract. 5 days per week.
When i first started i was paid 25hrs. Start: 9:30. Finish: 14:30. No problems with payment.
Following 3 weeks i was paid 32.5hrs. At request of manager. Start: 08:00. Finish: 14:30. 25hrs + 7.5hrs overtime. No problems with payment.
Next week told i would be paid 30hrs. Start time: 07:50. Finish: 14:20. 25hrs + 5hrs overtime. As 10mins before start and 20mins at finish are break time.
So i am now being paid 30hrs rather than 32.5hrs.
30hrs paid is ok with me as i work on my own with van and take breaks when i want and finish before my time anyway.
But im starting to not like the sneaky tactics of management, but thats no surprise.
Anyway i will be offered a permanent 25hr contract soon then after 6 months if still doing 30hrs per day will ask for review.

The amount of paid break you are entitled to depends upon the length of your working day.

5 hours: 30mins
7 hours: 40 mins
9 hours: 50 mins
etc.

You should be paid 32 and half hours, that's the length of your working day, you should not just let this go in the hope of a permanent or longer contract, as the extra hours you are working should be allocated to the most senior part timer who wanted them if you asked for a review not necessarily going onto your contract

70 minutes for everything over 13 hours
