Hi guys,
So far the shifts I've been offered have been late afternoon, evening, nights.
Do Angard ever phone and offer early shifts at all for Casual Mail Sorters?
Cheers

So I guess they phone you about that the day before? Or early on the day of the shift?
There isn't a way to book only early or afternoon shifts no? Will they just ditch you?

Re: Do Angard ever offer early shifts?
Often its a text or call in the morning to go in at 9, 10 or 11 am
Rarely are any of us are offered an earlier start than that except at Christmas
I doubt they ditch you for only wanting morning shifts, but I doubt you'd get much work

Quite often get them Tues and Wed at our place, usually 8-1, or 9-2. Usually a call on the day about 6.30, sometimes booked day before but not often.

So who works in the mornings/afternoons then?
Non-agency staff?
Is there a reason for that?

Re: Do Angard ever offer early shifts?
I think that the earlier and daytime shifts are more desirable to Royal Mail workers, more sociable hours. The evening and nights shifts are busier so more staff needed. If you think about 6-10, less time to get the first class done as a lot of it comes in after 6 from post offices.

True true
So the next question is how do I move from Angard to RM in the Mail Centre?
I love the job - it suits me down to the ground but would be much better if I was getting earlier shifts.

Re: Do Angard ever offer early shifts?
Our mail centre took on work from another one that closed, so it has been quite busy. They gave out about 10 weekend and 10 late shift contracts in April 2014 and rumour has it that they will do the same soon.

Re: Do Angard ever offer early shifts?
I've just started at Jubilee MC and all I was offered in my first week was three 07:00 to 14:00 shifts. As has been mentioned above, it depends entirely on the MC what additional coverage they think they need to operate most effectively.
