The post office off Croft Lane is said to have been closed over a week ago, without warning.

Residents were met with a sign on the door reading “closed until further notice”, and the post box on the side of the building was taped up briefly.


Cherry Willingham resident Vicki Coombs told The Lincolnite: “I have a parcel there which I haven’t been able to collect for the last week, and the residents that collect their pensions cannot do so.

“The post box was even taped over outside so nobody could send their post from there. I know some people are having to travel to the Carlton Centre in Lincoln.”

The closure has been put down to “operational reasons”, after a planned relocation to a nearby newsagents unit fell through.

The Post Office is working to restore the service to the area, but no date has been set as yet.

A Post Office spokesperson said: “We would like to apologise to customers for any inconvenience caused by the temporary closure of Cherry Willingham Post Office, this is due to operational reasons.

“The Cherry Willingham branch was due to relocate to Maddison news, 5/6 The Parade, in late July, the move will no longer be going ahead and the branch will continue to operate from its current location.

“We are working hard to restore services to the area as soon as possible. In the meantime, customers can access Post Office services at any branch, with Reepham Post Office being the closest alternative. ”

The owner of the shop has not so far been available for comment.
